Description
Aaron Benson:
"After The Rush" the new album from Aaron Benson is as fresh as it is timeless!! A mix of smooth and exciting sounds drawing from Cool Jazz, Soul, R'n'B, Latin and infused with a touch of Uptown Blues - The CD has instantly been met with much acclaim! Aaron is a guitarist with that rare ability to transcend genres. Born in Melbourne Australia and having performed in a multitude of settings around the world his music captures the feeling of today even when playing homage to yesterday.

His mellifluous melodies, cool grooves, and earthy sophistication are all represented here displaying a seductive blend of strong musicianship, versatility and a keen ear for creating exciting and inspiring music ... While heavily influenced by many of the great guitarists both old and new - the thing that gives his music an extra dimension is an equally un-abated love for expressive vocalists. This adds a lyrical quality to his songs and arrangements that captures the ears of anyone with an appreciation of great melodies, soulful tones and consummate playing ...

Whether it be the uplifting funky flavour of "Uptown Avenue" the streetwise groove of "The Chase Is On" or the tantalizing "My Love is your Love" and "When Hearts are Singing" - these songs are beautifully balanced with the sleek and sensual "Slo Notion" and luxurious "Your Soulful Whisper" which is a prelude of more things to come. The singing tone of "Havana Moonlight" certainly delivers a spark that could fire up many different occasions with it's hypnotic Latin rhythms and simmering guitar lines.

Other highlights of the CD are the slinky Barry White meets Wes Montgomery cover "Practice What You Preach" and the atmospheric closing ballad "Way Past Midnight" which conjures up all kinds of images from classic cinematic moments, old smoky jazz clubs through to romantic endeavours - finesse is the key word here ...

Danny Kalb:
A guitar god in the pre-Jimi Hendrix, early 1960s, when he played on albums by Phil Ochs, Bob Dylan, and Judy Collins and founded the influential Blues Project. Danny Kalb continues to show his instrumental mastery. Kalb's second album, All Together Now, following a nearly three decade absence from the studio, is a text-book of six-string wizardry. Performing mostly solo, Kalb rewrites folk, blues and jazz standards, Christmas tunes and originals -- including a heartfelt tribute to the late Dave Van Ronk -- with his highly proficient playing ...

Impossible to categorize as a player, Adrian Legg incorporates virtually every genre on his guitar in a virtuosic instrumental style with effects. He brought electric approaches to acoustic playing, creating a modern cross-over amalgamation in the tradition of eclectic folk playing that goes back to the 1960s."

biography:
"This One's a Peach" is a real change of musical direction for me. I've been interested in many forms of music and felt this new rootsier sound for a lack of a better term, really reflects where my heads at as of late. Learning to play the mandolin over the last year or so has been a blast along with playing my acoustic guitar a lot more while always keeping my Tele and Strat within close reach at all times has enabled me to compose in a different way. Having a studio in my home has been a real songwriter's dream because I can record a song whenever I wish and hear it back immediately which is a valuable tool for a composer.

I plan on putting a band together to play this new music of mine and playing live again. I've been busy the last year and a half composing music for the visual medium (film and television) which has been a lot of fun and a real learning experience and one that I continue to pursue but I do miss playing my guitar for an audience. Look for my new band to be playing out really soon.

I hope you enjoy the new music.

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble Official Website on Sony Music:
By the summer of 1982, Stevie Ray Vaughan was already a veteran of the Southern blues circuit. Desperately searching for his big break, he was asked to play "Blues Night" at the annual Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland. Playing like his life depended on it, Stevie put on a fiery performance - full of future SRV classics like "Pride And Joy" and "Love Struck Baby." The audience could not have cared less. Every song Stevie played was greeted by an increasing wave of boos and hisses and he left the stage bewildered and heart-broken.

As fate would have it, this would be the most important single show Stevie ever played. In attendance at the festival were two figures who would prove instrumental in Stevie's subsequent rise to stardom: David Bowie and Jackson Browne. They immediately recognized Stevie's raw talent and limitless passion. As a result, Jackson Browne offered Stevie the opportunity to record (free of charge) at his own studio--the tapes that would be Texas Flood--Stevie's first studio album for Epic Records. In addition, Stevie was asked to play on Bowie's hugely successful Let's Dance album and tour ...
