The two albums Slava Grigoryan has recorded for Sony Classical -- The Spirit of Spain (SK 62627) and the more recent Dance of the Angel (SK 63011) -- reflect the guitarist’s effortless virtuosity and scintillating musicianship both in the standard repertoire of the classical guitar as well as crossover material. Forthcoming releases include an album of guitar transcriptions of celebrated Russian piano works and a second crossover album.
Born in Khazakstan in 1976, Slava Grigoryan has already performed extensively throughout the world. The youngest ever finalist in the Tokyo International Guitar Competition, he has since performed in concerts and at festivals across Europe. In the United States, he made his New York debut in 1997. Grigoryan has also headlined in a “Great Guitars” tour with the legendary flamenco player Paco Peña and the equally celebrated acoustic guitar stylist Leo Kottke ...

Best known as the founder and leading guitarist of the Dire Straits rock band, Mark Knopfler has also dedicated himself to an equally successful solo career.
He worked as a journalist and a teacher before the Dire Straits creation. In 1978 the band released their first album Dire Straits and one year later there was the second album Comunique. The band's next albums, Making Movies (1980) and Love Over Gold (1982) featured hits Tunnel Of Love, Romeo And Juliet, Telegraph Road and Private Investigation. In 1985 Dire Straits released Brothers in Arms, one of the best selling albums at all times. The 'Live in 85/86' tour saw Dire Straits play 234 shows in twelve months to combined audiences of about 2.5 million. Dire Straits did a total of three concerts for the Prince's Trust. They appeared at the Live Aid Concert (1985) and the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Concert (1988)

I've been writing songs for over twenty years (if you don't count the book of Beatlesque tunes I wrote when I was seven). But it wasn't until I started leading worship in 1996 that I began to develop a desire to write worship songs. I've always enjoyed writing. I almost consider it as necessary to my well being as breathing. I feel that there is a part of my heart and/or mind that is exposed with each song. In the case of the songs I've written for Porch this is definitely true. In the case of the praise and worship songs I've written I hope to be as invisible as possible as I write about or to our Lord and Savior. I believe that we were created for one primary purpose and that is to worship our God. He doesn't even need us to witness for Him (although I believe that is a vital part of a Christian walk) His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature are clearly seen in His creation ...so that they are without excuse (Romans 1:19,20).The songs below were written for God's glorification and the Church's edification ...
