Describe legendary musician Taj Mahal in a single word or phrase? Impossible.
You could call him a singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, ethnomusicologist, two-time Grammy-winner, world-class musical collaborator, musicians' advocate, world traveler, fisherman, or cigar aficionado. These titles are all accurate, yet none convey the warmth, humor, and soulfulness of Taj and his music.

2. Tim Reynolds
Tim Reynolds: Born in Weisbaden, Germany, the son of a devoutly religious military man, Tim spent much of his childhood moving-from Alaska to St. Louis and through much of the Bible-belt Midwest.
In a statement by Reynolds, "I come from nowhere mostly. My dad was in the Army so we moved around alot. Germany is where I was born, and after that we lived on a farm in Indiana, then on an army base in Alaska, then to Kansas, then to Missouri, where we lived the longest (thus the nowhere). Then I moved to Virginia, and I was there for 17 years or so. Now I live in New Mexico and this is the best place I could be. I mostly come from space."
As the child of pious, fiercely conservative parents, Reynold's musical introduction began at age 12, playing electric bass before writhing congregations of ecstatic worshippers three times a week (over 1000 times) until his high school graduation. Tiring of the constraints of imposed conservatism, he secretly plunged into jazz and "forbidden" late '60s and early '70s psychedelic rock. At age 18, he left home to join a group of "experimental" musicians. After absorbing much from them and the dozen other bands (from disco to country) that followed, he eventually settled in Charlottesville, Virginia ...

Ruben Romero's fascination with the guitar started at the age of seven, after seeing a flamenco dance performance in Taos, New Mexico. A New Mexico native, his interest was further fanned when he saw flamenco guitarists on the "Ed Sullivan Show."
He began studying guitar at age II and later, inspired by the musical interests of his older brothers, he studied flamenco guitar in Spain. In the following years, Romero became a mainstay of the New Mexico music scene and began releasing a series of recordings that merged traditional flamenco with classical and jazz guitar. Romero regularly joins other flamenco artists in public performances and private juergas. After Neil Young left the Californian folk-rock band Buffalo Springfield in 1968, he slowly established himself as one of the most influential and idiosyncratic singer/songwriters of his generation. Young's body of work ranks second only to Bob Dylan in terms of depth, and he was able to sustain his critical reputation, as well as record sales, for a longer period of time than Dylan, partially because of his willfully perverse work ethic. From the beginning of his solo career in the late '60s until the late '90s, he never stopped writing, recording, and performing; his official catalog only represented a portion of his work, since he kept countless tapes of unreleased songs in his vaults. Just as importantly, Young continually explored new musical territory, from rockabilly and the blues to electronic music. But these stylistic exercises only gained depth when compared to his two primary styles: gentle folk and country-rock, and crushingly loud electric guitar rock, which he frequently recorded with the Californian garage band Crazy Horse. Throughout his career, Young alternated between these two extremes, and both proved equally influential; there were just as many simpy singer/songwriters as there were grunge and country-rock bands claiming to be influenced by Neil Young. Despite his enormous catalog and influence, Young continued to move forward, writing new songs and exploring new music in his fourth decade as a performing artist.
