Artinger:
I started experimenting with guitars at around age 12, and after apprenticing under local master-cabinetmaker, John Angelino, through high school, I emerged to start Artinger Custom Guitars in 1997 at age 19.
With the incredible support and trust of my first few clients (all of which have become close friends) word spread throughout the area, and eventually out of state. With demand steadily growing, I teamed up with Rick in 1999 to form Artinger Custom Guitars, LTD.
Although Rick spends only a small portion of his time in the shop helping with the construction of the instruments themselves, he's the administrative backbone of the company, handling everything from the website to our marketing. It's been a fantastic partnership, and we're both proud to be keeping the company to a grassroots level, getting to know each customer individually, and tailoring every instrument to that individual's needs and desires. Es ist nicht meine Art, über meine Instrumente große Worte zu machen. Sie mögen für sich selbst sprechen, zur Freude der Musiker und Zuhörer.
Meine Aufgabe ist es, die Komponenten wie Klangvorstellung, Holzwahl, kunstfertige Verarbeitung und Ästhetik, mit Erfahrung zu einem charaktervollen Instrument zu komponieren.
Der Musiker “öffnet“ das Instrument, haucht ihm Leben ein. So wird das Instrument eine Quelle der Inspiration sein ...

It is not in my style to use big words to describe my instruments. They may speak for themselves bringing joy for the musician and the listener.
My job is to take the components such as tone expectations, choice of woods, artistic and esthetic touch, together with experience, to compose an instrument of full character.
The musician "opens" the instrument and breathes life into it. Through this act the instrument becomes a well of inspiration ...

The Sukop Bass is a custom handmade instrument designed for the most discriminating player. Each Sukop Bass is made with a five-piece laminated neck constructed from hard Maple, Purpleheart and Black Walnut with a Wenge fingerboard. The necks are reinforced using a steel truss rod which is cast in epoxy resin to add strength, density and sustain. A heel-less neck-through-body design permits unobstructed access to all 24 frets. The lightweight body creates superb resonance and balance, while exotic wood tops add subtle tonal variations and beauty. Each body is individually hand-carved to match the radius of the fingerboard, giving the entire instrument a constant radius and each string a more consistent feel. All Sukop Basses feature custom designed Bartolini hum-cancelling soapbar pickups with active circuitry, Gotoh tuners, a custom design Dingwall bridge, and a brass nut. Models are available in 4, 5 and 6-string, fretted and fretless. Sukop Basses are made in USA and come with a limited lifetime warranty.
