Birdsong Guitars hand built short scale basses, medium scale basses, and shorter scale guitars.
There comes a time in the playing life of certain musicians when they feel the stock, factory manufactured instrument that has served them well for years just isn't the one.

Hand built in extremely limited numbers by musicians in the beautiful Texas "Hill Country", Birdsong guitars & basses are tools of creation carrying inspiration to players and listeners long after the maker's work is done.

My structural and aesthetic designs are influenced by great makers from the past such as Simplicio, Hauser I and Torres. In general, my guitars are lightly built, the tops are usually fan braced and the neck to body join is spanish-heel construction. The strings are individually compensated for improved intonation and all instruments are finished with a French polish of shellac.
I make my own mosaic rosettes and encourage design input from the customer. Making rosettes is an art in itself which I enjoy a great deal. Mosaics surrounding the perimeter of the soundboard are available at additional cost ...

The neck is made of Spanish Cedar or Mahogany, the fingerboard of Ebony, the bracing stock is split from Spruce billets and the bridge is made of Brazilian Rosewood ...
