Welcome to the definitive Chris Allen Power Trip web site. The site has just went through a major update and continues to grow. Don't forget to check out the Music section for tracks I've posted from my new CD "Rock Machine" it's an Ultra Heavy, Blaze Infested, Rock Injected, InstruMENTAL Power Trip!
Playing guitar since age 13, Chris Allen is always trying to expand his musical ability by studying the styles of such artists as George Lynch, Randy Rhoads, Yngwie Malmsteen, Zakk Wylde, etc., as well as many Blues and Funk players from the 60's to present. "Ive got a HUGE list of musical influences and hero's and I draw from them all."

At an early age Chris has been influenced by music of all genres but when a 6th grade schoolmate introduced him to Van Halen's, Woman and Children First, Chris found direction and really gravitated toward guitar as his instrument of choice and vehicle for self _expression. After the first five years of being a self-taught guitar player, in the late 80's, Chris studied under Recording Artist/Berklee School of Music teacher, Joe Stump (www.JOESTUMP.com) for aprox. one year, played in a few local bands and really emersed himself in his playing and practice developing a unique blend of Rock, Funk, Metal and Blues.

Since 2000, Chris has auditioned for everything from 2nd Lead Guitar for none other than the Metal God himself, Rob Halford for his solo band HALFORD, to a Lead/Rhythm Guitar spot in a local production of the 1971, Andrew Lloyd Webber/ Tim Rice rock opera, JESUS CHRIST SUPER STAR. Chris has also recorded lead/rhythm tracks for a Rock/Blues compilation CD released in Europe (Jack Speciale-2003), and co-wrote and recorded a demonstration track for Long Sought For Sound, a local, Boston area recording studio. Chris has been interviewed live, at many Boston area radio stations who've aired his music and even used samples of his songs as backing tracks for their advertising. Chris' music has also been featured/played as far as Bryansk, Russia (BRYANSK AGRICULTURE ACADEMY-College radio station) and even reached "Top40" (out of 1000+) on the late MP3.com's INSTRUMENTAL METAL CHARTS, beating out some well known names in the guitar community.

After his positively received debut DEMO CD (2002) entitled, "TROUBLE ON THE HORIZON....." a compilation of old and new original InstruMENTAL compositions, Chris has just completed his ~follow-up~ release entitled, "ROCK MACHINE" featuring four new tracks, A new sound and a few new riffs but with the same formula which has generated a small but Devoted fan base all over the world including professional interest. Chris plans to self promote his works to gain notoriety among his peers and subsequent fans. With future goals of touring, pro recording, endorsements and major record deals, theres no telling what this determined, aspiring new comer will bring in the way of PURE ROCK AGGRESSION.

Jazz guitarist Gene Shimosato's website features biography, sound bites, itinerary, cds, photo gallery, etc ...
Award winning guitarist, Gene Ess, draws upon a diverse background to form his unique style. Studying classical piano, Ess's early years were filled with sounds of Beethoven and Chopin. Growing up on a US Air Force Base, Ess was simultaneously receiving a mix of influences: he was exposed to the indigenous music of Okinawa and - to the pop and jazz music coming out of the clubs for the American soldiers. All this amounted for an early obsession with music.

Considered a child prodigy by fellow musicians and instructors, Ess performed in clubs and festivals all around Okinawa at the early age of 14. After graduating high school, not satisfied, Ess left for George Mason University. There, Ess pursued classical music studies with Larry Snitzler, a prominent concert guitarist who was once Andres Segovia's disciple and orchestral composition under Dr. Glenn Smith.

Downbeat magazine presented Ess's performance of Lennox Berkeley's 'Theme and Variations' with the 'Outstanding Performance Award' in 1983. Consequently, Ess received a scholarship to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. There he continued his musical quest and was heavily influenced by the music of John Coltrane. During those years, Ess started leading his own groups, which included among others, pianist Danilo Perez. After studies with Jerry Bergonzi and Charlie Banacos, Ess graduated from Berklee with honors in 1989 and moved to New York in 1991 ...

“American music, Texas style.”
That’s Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown’s four-word description of his freewheeling musical philosophy (it’s also the title of his 1999 album). A living monument to the melting pot of American regional styles, he’s been dishing up his personal gumbo of blues, R&B, country, swing, bebop and Cajun for more than half a century. Born into a musical family in Vinton, Louisiana and raised in Orange, Texas, close to the Gulf Coast, “Gate,” as he’s known to friends and fans, has been a headliner for most of his 80 years.

Along the way, he’s kept audiences rocking, swinging and two-stepping all over the world, from his early days on the Southern “chittlin’ circuit” to concert halls, international blues festivals and network TV. A multi-instrumentalist, he fields a daunting arsenal of guitar, fiddle, mandolin, viola – just about anything with strings – as well as harmonica and drums.

He started as a drummer, but launched his career as a guitarist in 1947, when he picked up ailing headliner T-Bone Walker’s guitar at Houston’s Peacock Club and proceeded to tear the place apart, earning $600 in tips, quite a haul in 1947 dollars.

As luck would have it, the Peacock was owned by Don Robey, a gangster/entrepreneur who signed young Gatemouth to his new Peacock label and put him on the road fronting a big band.
Though he started as a T-Bone disciple, times were changing and Gate soon cut his own path, his edgier, more urgent blues attack contrasting with Walker’s mellow, jazzy approach ...
