Midiwerks Recording: Tracking Session: The tracking session is an important part of all studio recordings. It often involves using the studio's microphones or MIDI devices to capture the original performances on Hard Disk or Analog Tape by recording through our Harrison 4032 console or any of the studio's outboard pre amps. This is normally the first step in the recording process.
Mixing Session: The mixing session is usually the second step of the recording process and involves taking all the tracks that were recording during the original tracking session or sessions either at MIDI Werks or at some other capable facility and making any and all edits to the digital audio, getting all the tracks volume and pan levels set correctly as well as adding any needed effects or dynamics processing that may be used to enhance the song or songs. This process is where all the parts of the song really come together and begin forming the final audio product that will eventually end up on the clients compact disc.
Mastering Session: The Mastering session takes place after all aspects of the tracking and mixing sessions have been completed and the song or songs are in their final state before they are to go onto the CD. The process of mastering usually consists of using specially tailored mastering equipment to introduce subtle equalization and compression enhancements to the stereo bounces of your song or songs. Often times this also involves slight broadening the song's stereo field, discrete normalization, and noise shaping to ensure that the overall product sounds it's best.
