Description
Welcome to the official site of New York City drummer Brian Czach.

Brian Czach's career has taken him all over the world time and again. Making his living as a successful freelance musician based in New York City has allowed Brian to perform in all different musical styles and genres while continuing to challenge him to grow. "I enjoy playing in different contexts all the time. I love playing in a big band one night and then having to switch gears and play in a rock group, or a swingin' jazz trio the next night." For Brian, the energy on stage sets the tone and Brian will continue to be inspired.

Born into a musical family in suburban Ballston Lake, New York, Brian can’t remember a time when he didn’t play the drums. What he does remember is sitting in front of the stereo speakers while his Dad played old Blood Sweat & Tears, Sly and the Family Stone, and King Curtis albums. At age 9, he started taking private drum lessons with an instructor by the name of Don Bush. Mr. Bush helped Brian develop very strong rudimental and sight reading skills. By age 11, Brian was playing professionally with the Revelaires, his family’s wedding band on weekends.

In high school, Brian started listening to jazz music. Brian gained performing experience in the school orchestras and jazz bands along with his friends in the rock group Bluesnick, while continuing to play with the Revelaires. He played at many of the regional and state music conferences and was honored to be a part of the 1994 New York All-State Jazz Ensemble. He also performed regularly with the Empire State Jazz Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble based in Albany, New York.

He went on to attend the Ithaca College School of Music, where he studied percussion with world-renowned marimba player Gordon Stout and studied jazz with multi-talented Steve Brown. At this time, Brian was also performing with many groups outside of school such as Tony DeSare, The Strand, The Soulutions, Al Meixner Trio, and the Tim Collins Trio ...

Buster Birch, freelance drummer and percussionist:
Hello and welcome to my web site. Finally, a chance to have everything all together in one place. Being a self-employed freelance musician I find myself working in a wide variety of musical spheres. When performing this can vary between jazz groups, orchestras, covers bands, cabaret and musical theatre. When teaching this can range from one-to-one lessons to percussion groups and larger scale workshops. Please feel free to get in touch if you would like further information about anything contained in this website.
Playing professionally since his teens, Buster is a very experienced musician in many fields of music. He has a degree in music from the University of London and a post-graduate diploma in jazz performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (where he was able to meet and play with Branford Marsalis, Randy Brecker, Billy Cobham and Dave Liebman, not to mention most of London's top jazz musicians who tutor at the college). Whilst living in New York, he also studied at the Drummers Collective in Manhattan and privately with Jim Chapin and Joe Morello (of The Dave Brubeck Quartet).

He has travelled extensively as a musician and has now played in over 30 countries with various jazz ensembles, orchestras and shows.

His experience in playing jazz is considerable and includes big-bands to small groups. He regularly plays with many of the up-coming "young lions" on the London jazz scene, but particularly enjoys working with the "more mature" generation of British jazz veterans, who he finds very inspiring.

His experience of orchestral playing is quite substantial for someone who has chosen not to specialise in that field and includes playing for The Sarum Chamber Orchestra and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

He also has extensive experience in musical theatre, having played for countless shows in various theatre pits in the uk and abroad. These include West Side Story, Chess, South Pacific, A Chorus Line, Annie, Five Guys Named Mo, La Cage Aux Folles, Little Shop of Horrors, Les Miserables, Chicago, The King and I, My Fair Lady, Oliver and many more! ...

Official Website of David Derby, Independent Drummer/Percussionist based in Denver, Colorado.
It's funny how the time seems to have passed by so quickly, I can hardly cast my mind back and remember my beginnings nearly 35 years ago. Born in Taipei Taiwan, the son of an Air Force staff sergeant, I was given as a Christmas present, my first drum set. It was a Slingerland kit with no throne and one cymbal.

At first, I wrestled with the fact that my drum set paled in comparison to my friends drum sets, but one morning, my grandfather joined me while I was, at that time, just making noise and he asked to play my drums. After chuckling for only a moment with the thought of this old man trying to play my drums, I graciously passed my sticks to him. He sat on my makeshift throne and proceeded to blow me away as he made that crappy kit sound like a symphony. It was at the moment that I realized that drumming was going to play a huge role in my life.

From concert band , orchestra, marching band, to jazz band, I performed at every level, never missing a single event in 12 years. Throughout high school, I was fortunate enough to be a part of one of the country's very first amateur percussion ensembles, performing for Buddy Rich, the Ludwig family in Chicago and for President Reagan's inauguration in 1984.

For the last two years, I've been playing with the Melanie Susuras Band. Melanie Susuras is an amazing singer/songwriter who gave me the opportunity I had been looking for all my life as a drummer and someone whom I give most of the credit for my success as a musician. Leading up to this project, I played and performed with bands such as Shady Exit and the Tiny Red Spiders. Since joining the ranks of MSB, I've had the opportunity to play for many others as a fill-in drummer and/or percussionist and most recently, was afforded the opportunity play full-time in addition to MSB with Rachel's Playpen, a pop-rock band also based in Denver, Colorado ...
