Broadcast and Recording Studio Acoustics.
The single most important design element for broadcasting and recording studios is QUIET. We take great pains to ensure that background noise, and isolation from exterior noise and vibration, are up to the stringent standards of the broadcast and recording industry. We provide design advice on: fully isolated floor and wall construction, window and door details, HVAC isolation and noise control, lighting fixture noise, even noise generated by the electronic equipment in the rooms. We have worked on noise control and sound isolation for private and public broadcast and recording studios, as well as TV and film sound stages throughout Western Canada ...

The JHA design team translates the goals of clients, users, architects, and designers into acoustically excellent solutions specific to program and budget. Work begins in the early stages of concept development and planning and is constantly refined through a dynamic design process that combines scientific knowledge and calculation with imagination, experience and skill.
Architectural acoustic design involves many processes, such as determining the volume, shape, proportions, marterials, and finishes of acoustically critical spaces. Applied research, site measurements and analysis of acoustic data, hands-on lab testing of materials and equipmant, and studies with physical and computer models are all part of the creative process. Orchestra pits, orchestra shells, overhead reflector systems, and acoustically adjustable elements are designed. Noise and vibration need to be controlled, and silent heating and air conditioning systems developed. During construction, JHA works closely with engineers and contractors to ensure that acoustic details are integrated onto the building. As the project nears completion, JHA fine-tunes the acoustically adjustable elements and trains users in their operations.
