All the instruments I make are based on instruments in museums or collections around the world and any repairs, alterations or restorations are made in sympathy with the style of the period. Where no instruments suvive then instruments are based on icographocal and other evidence plus skills acquired during the making of many instruments.

Die Begeisterung für Lautenmusik weckte bei mir vor nun gut 10 Jahren ein zunehmendes Interesse an den Instrumenten selber und an ihrer Bauweise. Nach Abschluß meinens Biologiestudiums 1993 begann ich autodidaktisch erste Lauten zu bauen. 1996 folgte der Entschluß, den Instrumentenbau professionell zu erlernen.
Ich begann eine dreijährige Ausbildung zum Lautenbauer am West-Dean College in Südengland. Mein Lehrer dort war Martin Haycock. Daneben waren regelmäßig auch andere Lautenbauer (Michael Lowe, David van Edwards, Peter Forrester) als Gastdozenten und Gutachter am College zu Besuch ...
Nach wie vor baue ich nicht nur Lauten, sondern spiele auch sehr viel. Dabei gilt mein Interesse besonders der frühen Lautenmusik (Plektrumlaute und 6-chörige Laute). Daher fasziniert mich auch besonders die Rekonstruktion von Lauten des 15. Jahrhunderts.
Im Trio "Duchesse de Bourgogne" beschäftigen wir uns schwerpunktmäßig mit französischer Musik zwischen 1300 und 1500.
