Description
The Classical Guitar: Where tradition meets technology in Classical Guitars, by Luthier Jeremy Locke.
I began building classical and flamenco guitars around 1980. My first guitar was a steel string guitar and it is still in use today. At that time I had no real fine wood working experience and very few tools. Today most tasks are still done by hand by me, very few machines are used. I also prefer to make only one guitar at a time. In every new guitar I make small changes as I seek to continually improve the sound and playability of each instrument. My workshop is in Queensland, Australia. I have a family with one son Daniel, 10 years old, partner Cheryl (age not readily available), and my two faithfull German Shepherds buddies have recently passed away. Life in the shop is not what it used to be without their company. Classical guitars are an important part of my life. I have studied the piano, music, guitar making and guitar playing extensively. My most significant guitar teacher was Jason Waldron in Adelaide. Jason is one of Australia's finest guitarists and teachers. Being a good player allows me to properly evaluate my instruments, and more importantly it allows me to enjoy them as they are made.

I travel extensively with my instruments and have exhibited often at guitar Festivals like the Healdsburg guitar festival, the GFA festival in the USA and Nurtingen in Germany. In 1999 one of my guitars was chosen to be part of the First prize at the prestigious GFA festival in Charleston, USA ...

Classical Guitarmaker:
Hello and welcome to my web page. I would like to share with you the great passion that I have for the classical guitar. I have the good fortune to be able to dedicated my professional life (and a good part of my private life as well!) to its construction, its history and the wonderful music it produces. I therefore invite you to browse through these few pages, get acquainted with my hand-made guitars and to get a feel for my "vision" and method of construction. All of this is aimed at offering you unique high quality instruments to fulfill your demands.
I truly believe that every classical guitar is a unique instrument with its own personality. I get inspired by the works of great luthiers from Antonio de Torres to the modern masters while staying away from actually copying their instruments. I therefore follow the basic principles of guitarmaking but I design and build my guitars according to my own ideas with regards to the shape of the body (plantilla), the head and neck, the rosette, the strutting system and the various aesthetics aspects.

4. Generation.

Frank Peter Dietrich und Markus Dietrich: workshop for master guitars
and historical plucked instruments.
In the beginning of the 19th century our family was engaged in making flutes and violins; in 1904 the construction of guitars and lutes was added, under the hands of master craftsmen Frank-Peter Dietrich and son Markus in the 4th generation ...
An exact distinction between individual notes, easy playability, quick response, and a pure full sound distinguish every single one of our instruments. Naturally seasoned and carefully selected woods are used.

For lovers of early music, we also make copies and construct imitations of historical plucked instruments, from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance and Baroque periods up to the Classical era, using original models from domestic and foreign museums.
