There were three main keys in use, the Dorian (high e down to e), the Phrygian and the Lydian (major) mode, each one of them divided into two diverse chord- settings, comprising one semitone and two whole tones. They also counted one Mixolydian mode, fallowed by some additional, for instance the Hypodorian, Hypophrygian, Hypolydian, and the Hypomixolydian mode.
