With the sole purpose of capturing the real substance in music, e5 MUSIC President/CEO ELIOT WALDHORN remains eclectic and forward thinking in his production style and presentation. A sophisticated beat structuralist who cleverly mines the international sonic archives, ELIOT WALDHORN created e5 MUSIC in 1996 in order to bring about a variety of vibrant musical subcultures together and deliver original material. An innovator in more than just his sound and sensibility, WALDHORN exploits his broad knowledge of music to accomplish his ambitious task. He performs his labor of love on a daily basis from his owned and operated state-of-the-art digital studio facility. Today, e5 MUSIC brims with invention and energy and has become a hub of creativity where national and international artists like to meet, work and develop their talent.
Hailing from Argentina, ELIOT WALDHORN demonstrated he had a keen ear for music at the tender age of 5 when he grabbed his sister's guitar and was able to perfectly tune it. "My mom couldn't believe it, right away she sent me to study music" recalls WALDHORN. With his newfound love and passion for music, WALDHORN, who grew up in Buenos Aires, steadily kept studying a variety of styles including classical, jazz, pop, rock and R&B, as well as music composing and arranging.
WALDHORN grew up soaking up the warm sounds of South American music, and, when he turned 19, he decided to come to the United States to develop his career as a music producer. WALDHORN graduated from the Grove School of Music in Van Nuys. In 1992 WALDHORN bought his first keyboard and four-track recorder, which led him to his actual first music productions. Four years later, ELIOT began building his own recording studio. After owning and operating a commercial studio for years and being head engineer of two other studios prior to that, I gave up the easy money and now do mostly production work. I still go out to other studios and engineer sometimes but I tend to sit in the production chair a lot more these days. This change in my work habit has cut out most of the “going absolutly no where” projects I had been working on for years. No more rappers that can’t figure out that key word in music business is “MUSIC”!!!! No more singers that don’t know they can’t sing. No more old guys (has beens) that can’t tell the difference between vintage and just plain...old. The bad songwriters, the self-indulgent album projects, artist that think they’re record producers...(I could go on and on) all gone.
Now-a-days, I’m working on projects that I believe in, where we agree on the goals of the project and what everyone’s relationship to the project is. Whether it’s hip hop or turkish folk music, we must agree on the vision and all parties involved have to make the no B.S. commitment ...
