Jeff Kemp, one of Austalia's leading guitar makers, began building guitars in 1982. His workshop is located at Rockvale, 35km from Armidale in the New England Area of NSW Australia. The area is part of the Northern Tablelands with an elevation of 1000 metres and a dry climate ideal for guitar making. The relative isolation of this location allows him the un-interupted time needed to produce guitars of consistent concert quality. Guitar making for Jeff is not just work, but a lifestyle!
His approach to building is to combine the finest elements of a traditionally built guitar with contemporary materials, building methods and design. The result is a powerful, well balanced guitar with enhanced volume and projection. At The Guitar Workshop I produce about a dozen classical guitars each year. I also do repair work on almost all kinds of fretted instruments and customizing, particularly upgrading classical guitars to improve intonation. I do all the work myself...no apprentices. My guitars are sold around the world both direct from my workshop and by dealers in the U. S. and abroad.

I also put most anything else there that I consider newsworthy for fellow friends of the guitar. Most of the customizing work I do on classical guitars is in the area of intonation, which is a special interest of mine. Almost any otherwise well-made guitar can be made to play in tune, even though most of them do not. There's a special Intonation Upgrades page on this if you'd like to find out more ...
