Ganymed FM Synthesizer:
Ganymed can be described best as a "complex modulation sequence synth based on 3 operator FM Synthesis". Like its little brother, Vivaldi, it does not compromise sound qualtity for the sake of faster execution speed. There are no quick'n'dirty assembler hacks or downscaling optimizations in Ganymeds code. Users with slower computers (below 500 Mhz) can still use Ganymed - but they might only be able to play a few simultaneous voices. To be able to play the maximum of 32 simultaneous voices an AMD Athlon 1,33 Ghz or faster will be needed. However, you will get far enough (8 voices) with a PIII 700 Mhz or G4 733 Mhz processor.

Ganymed is a really unique synthesizer. It was very much inspired by my good old Korg™ Wavestation. Since Ganymed is based on FM Synthesis and the Wavestation was a ROM-Sample-Player, you might wonder what was the source of inspiration there. Well, it was the idea of altering the sound using complex patterns, either rhythmically or in slow transitions, sometimes repeating, sometimes in a single sequence. Ganymed lets you edit up to 16 patterns per sound, each pattern consisting of 16 steps times 4 modulation tracks (1 pitch modulation, 3 general purpose). The modulation values generated by these steps can be routed to nearly every sound parameter of the synth: Volume, Pitch, Modulation Level, Feedback or Panpot to mention a few. Furthermore, Ganymed's modulation sequencer lets you specify the speed of interpolation for each modulation track, allowing slow transitions for pad sounds or quick transitions for rhythmical sounds. Of course, a modulation sequencer only makes sense if you can syncronize it to the host clock of your sequencer application. Ganymed lets you do exactly this. The modulation sequencer together with the possibility of routing every modulation source to almost every sound parameter opens up a whole world of possibilities for sound editing. Padawan is a hybrid synthesizer inteded for pad and ambient sound creation. the first oscialltor is analog style, while the second is based on wavetables. there are some nice modulation options, all synced to host tempo. for effects there is a nice stereo chorus and a simple reverb. version 1.05 fixes several outstanding bug and features a new set of stellar presets by proem. vu meters will return at a later date, once the fl studio issues are ironed out.
