I was born on April 17, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan. That is where I lived for almost 12 years before my family moved to Virginia in 1967. My parents took me to church at an early age and I always looked forward to this. Even as a child although I didn't realize it at the time, I was develpoing an inner desire for the ways and things of God.
It was while a student at Appalachia High in Appalachia, Virginia, that at the tender age of 17 I gave my heart to the Lord while attending a service one night at First Apostolic Church of Appalachia. I'll never forget the date. It was March 11, 1973. It was only a few weeks later that I developed an interest in singing for the Lord. I was already a musician, (I learned guitar at 12 and bass guitar at age 14), and had written a few Rock songs prior to becoming a Christian, but praise God He had better plans for my life ...

Gospel Sounds Music Ministry has been ordained and commanded by God to carry the Gospel in word and song to a lost and dying nation.
Steve A. Caldwell received Christ as his personal Savior in 1973 and dedicated his life to the Lord. Filled with the desire to follow the scripture verse Mark 16:15 "Go Ye into all the world an preach the gospel to every creature.", the ministry was now underway.
Apryl Caldwell accepted Christ into her life the summer of 1965, however, it wasn't until many years later that she really came to know who Jesus is and learned that true joy comes from a relationship with Jesus Christ. It's that joy that she wants to share with others.
At the start of Gospel Sounds Duet, Steve and Apryl had no idea of how much God had planned for them. The knew that they had the call to reach others through the medium of gospel music. Together, they began locally doing nursing homes, churches and conventions. Now the travel nationally, doing churches of many denominations, Salvation Armies, missions, rehabs, prisons, nursing homes, malls, revivals and conventions.
