Why is perfect sound reproduction so difficult to achieve? Precisely what factors inhibit even the most expensive audio system from faithfully releasing all the expressive qualities captured in professionally recorded music?
These are the questions that have challenged the Harmonix engineers for some three decades. The pursuit of answers started with a great effort to understand how perfect, beautiful sound, reproduced or live, is produced in the first place. Through the intricate study and analysis of every aspect of the violin, with its uniquely exquisite sound, the Harmonix engineers discovered their secret: a phenomenon known as harmonized resonance. During intensive resonance tests conducted on the near-perfect Stradivarious, Guarnieri, and Amati violins, they established that when resonance is harmonized in one frequency, every quality of the sound is conveyed precisely as it first emanated from the instrument. By tapping various points of the violins to measure frequencies of resonance, they made amazing discovery: no matter where tapped, resonance is perfectly balanced in one frequency, thus allowing no sonic distortion ...

Dimensions provides design of audio, video, broadcast and acoustics for sports, arts, and worship venues worldwide with offices in Dallas, New York and Coventry. Our focus is on the experience. We offer an integrated approach to the design of acoustics and performance technologies so that your facility supports the experience for both artist and audience. We have proactively chosen some of the most talented people in the industry to provide design and consulting services in:
Acoustics:
Acoustics deal with the manipulation of the reflection and absorption of sound within a space. We work with the architect to determine the basic room shape, size, ceiling heights, seating and surface finishes so that the correct balance of reflection and absorption meets the performance needs of your space. We develop clear construction recommendations for incorporation into the construction drawings to achieve quiet interiors by minimizing external noise and noise from heating and air conditioning systems.
Audio:
Quality audio systems are key to music and speech presentation. Not only do we define loudspeaker orientation and placement, but we also work with you to design control systems to meet your specific needs. Ancillary systems, such as cueing, paging, background music, assistive listening systems for the hearing impaired and simultaneous translation systems, are also part of our services.
Video:
The integration of video into today’s market continues to press the boundaries of technology. It is exciting to see the dynamic use of large screen video displays in stadiums, interactive video kiosks in theatres, retail environments with sophisticated MATV systems and video projection providing presentation support in churches. We work with you to design solutions for video projection, video production, distributed video and large screen video and scoreboard design.
Lighting:
Lighting can deliver much more than illumination. It can provide impact to a performance, and it can animate architecture. We design systems to meet the needs of stage productions and video broadcast and to produce a “sense of arrival” in lobbies and common areas.
MC Squared System Design Group is an independent sound and video system design and acoustical consulting firm, specializing in the integration of the architectural and acoustical environment with the technical systems.
You might think that understanding your studio- acoustics is a complicated subject, but it boils down to grasping a few essential principles. Acoustic designer Ethan Winer explains nodes, modes, nulls, and standing waves to help you understand how small room acoustics affect the music you record and mix.
More recording and mixing is being done in very small rooms than ever before. Small-room recordists include not only amateurs and weekend engineers in their home studios but also serious professionals doing critical music projects for major labels ...
