Anti-Boutique
I used to fight the "boutique" name. I hated being called "boutique". Sounds like somewhere Grandma goes.
The irony is that I was "extreme boutique". I used to sit and build amps from scratch (until late 2004). I'd wind my own transformers and make my own cabinets. Some guys make their own cabinets, but winding transformers is reserved for the truly insane- and truly boutique. Thousands of turns of wire making a coil. Turning, turning,turning turning. Power transformers, output transformers, chokes.........
<>Cabinets were fun to make. I actually liked doing the wood work, but hated laying down Tolex. Woodwork is dangerous. Guitar players who do wood work are asking for trouble. Every woodworker has nearly lost a finger or two at one point, which sucks for guitar. Years ago I had to take my only work related trip to the emergency room. My table saw shot back a piece of wood and I ended up with a massive splinter in my hand. I consider myself a expert splinter puller(fishhooks too!), but this thing was massive and deep ...

These amps are completely handmade with the most labor-intensive methods; we don't compete to build anything faster or cheaper. No rushing, no skimping, no shortcuts. High-end artisan craftsmanship with super-duty parts and build. 500 Point inspection. 120 mile high speed, L.A. freeway road test. Not all "point to point" electronics are built the same. Our build is the strongest, cleanest and most reliable style available, built by professionally trained personnel that have almost 10 years experience building electronics in exactly this style. THIS IS NOT COST EFFECTIVE FOR MANUFACTURERS!!! No profit minded builders want to build there amps as meticulously as I do, it requires too much time, money and attention. This is also the best sounding in that it does away with the excessively long signal paths associated with lesser techniques. This is a space age military style of building where each component is wrapped around a terminal strip ring, crimped tight and then soldered after a strong physical connection has been made. All leads are sleeved with fitted with Teflon insulation and carefully bent at right angles for layout, stress relief and aesthetics before placement ...
