hucky eichelmann
hucky eichelmann
Description
The name Hucky Eichelmann requires little introduction for Asian audiences, his unique and dazzling guitar style has long been delighting his loyal and ever-increasing audience in the region.

The international press has dubbed him as "Musical Ambassador between East and West" and a Bangkok Magazine labeled him the "Musical Ambassador for His Majesty the King of Thailand". An official tribute from the palace described him in glowing terms as an "indefatiguable champion of H.M. the Kings music" after he recorded and published CANDLELIGHT BLUES. He had the great honor to be invited to stage several Royal Command Performances for His Majesty King Bhumipol Adulyadej and for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand.

Though holding a master degree in classical music, Hucky started very early to develope his own repertoire of great diversity bridging the Cultures of East and West as well as the Classical with the Folkloristic and the Serious with the Popular. A cross-cultural highlight was his work with Pandit Ravi Shankar who, in collaboration with Hucky, re-composed his popular Sitar Concerto No.1 for guitar & orchestra ...

He is a versatile musician skilled both in jazz and classical music receiving his Master's degree in classical guitar from the Yale School of Music. Freddie is currently in demand in the New York jazz scene where he works with Ben Riley's Monk Legacy Septet and the Mingus Orchestra. He is also on the first call list of many singers and Brazilian musicians because of his sensitive accompanying and his knowledge of Brazilian guitar. His most recent CD is with the group Trio del Sol (Twinz Records). He has four others as a leader: Brazilian Rosewood, Boogaloo Brasileiro, Live at Smoke (Fresh Sound Records) and Take Your Dance into Battle (Jazz City Spirit). Freddie has also had the honor of touring with three legends of the music world: African singer, Salif Keita, the virtuoso klezmer clarinetist, Maestro Giora Feidman and the jazz trumpet great, Tom Harrell (as a member of his quintet, 1999-2001). Andrew York, Classical Guitarplayer.

Andrew York is one of today's most visible and innovative
classical guitar composers, and a member of the GRAMMY
winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. Andrew’s discography
includes “California Breeze,” a new recording for Sony Japan,
three solo CD's for the GSP label, ten CD’s with the LAGQ
on Delos, Sony and Telarc labels, as well as inclusions on
numerous compilation recordings. York's compositions have
also been recorded by guitar luminaries John Williams,
Christopher Parkening, Scott Tennant and William Kanengiser.
As a published composer, York's works appear in print worldwide
through Alfred Publications, Hal Leonard, Mel Bay Publications,
Guitar Solo Publications, Doberman-Yppan in Canada, Ricordi in
London, and in Japan through Gendai and Rittor Music.

rare combination. As a classical guitarist, Andrew received a
grant from the Del Amo Foundation for Study in Spain, and as
a jazz player studied with Joe Diorio and Lenny Breau. Andrew
received his Master of Music degree from University of Southern
California, and is the only USC graduate in the school’s history
to twice receive the Outstanding Alumni of the Year Award –
in 1997 as a member of LAGQ and in 2003 as the sole recipient.

Describe legendary musician Taj Mahal in a single word or phrase? Impossible.

You could call him a singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, ethnomusicologist, two-time Grammy-winner, world-class musical collaborator, musicians' advocate, world traveler, fisherman, or cigar aficionado. These titles are all accurate, yet none convey the warmth, humor, and soulfulness of Taj and his music.

Taj has been playing his own distinctive brand of music -- variously described as Afro-Caribbean blues, folk-world-blues, hula blues, folk-funk, and a host of other hyphenations -- for more than 40 years. Caribbean, Hawaiian, African, Latin, and Cuban sounds and rhythms mix with folk, jazz, zydeco, gospel, rock, pop, soul, and R&B, all layered on top of a solid country blues foundation.

What ties it all together is Taj's abiding interest in musical discovery, particularly in tracing many American musical forms back to their roots in Africa and Europe. Following his passion, Taj has spent time in the Caribbean, West Africa, Hawaii, Europe, the South Pacific, Australia, South America, and all over the continental U.S. His music reflects his global perspective, incorporating sounds from everywhere he's lived and traveled ...

Jim Crye Dallas Fort Worth Guitarist: started playing guitar 17 years ago and have not stopped since. Ace Frehley is the reason I even started playing guitar. Joes Garage was a local metal club in the 80's where I used to go watch Pantera play everytime they had a gig there before they got signed. So Dimebag was a big direct influence on me. Bill Ham, whom I took lessons from, was the guitar player for Sonny and Cher and was also a big direct influence. The others that matter are, in no particular order: Billy Gibbons, Jeff Beck, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Jake E. Lee, Jerry Cantrell, Incubus, Sevendust.
Local Dallas/Ft.Worth area bands I have played with are: KRY (metal), Sarcasm (metal), Twisting Cain (hard rock), Riding Shotgun (covers), Five Leaves Left (diva alternative), Blue Buddha (funk rock).
