Jack Pedler, drummer:
Jack was on drums with Buxton Kastle when the young Daniel Lanois met the group It was Dan's first recording ever. Jack gained further recognition with Canadian acts such as Ray Materick, Teenage Head, and the Dave Rave Conspiracy.

Ever restles, Jack travelled to NYC and joined Coyote Shivers ( producer of "Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet"). They toured extensivley, opening for KISS, as well as recording both the critally aclaimed Coyote Shivers debut album and a song on the sound track for the hit teen movie "Empire Records".

Lifetimes of experience gained on the road and performing down in Manhattan's anti-folk scene inspired the prophetic album "Fairyland It Ain't". Lyrics that frighten and thrill combined with dynamic, energetic tunes dazzeled the president of Mutiny Records. Jack was quickly signed ...

Mike Portnoy is the acclaimed drummer of Dream Theater as well as various side-projects such as Liquid Tension Experiment, TransAtlantic and O.S.I.

Mike's long list of Awards include 21 Modern Drummer Magazine Reader's Poll Awards including: 2004 Hall of Fame Inductee, Best Progressive Rock Drummer (10 years in a row!!), Best Clinician (twice), Best Educational Video/DVD for Liquid Drum Theater, and Best Recorded Performance of the Year (5 times) for Dream Theater's Awake, A Change of Seasons, Falling Into Infinity, Scenes From A Memory, and Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence.
As anybody who knows me personally would tell you, I am the walking definition of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder..... I always have been and probably always will be...

This curse for me means that when I "get into" something, I can't just casually enjoy it.... I become obsessed with every aspect of it.... If I discover a band that I like, I must go out and get their entire catalog. If I see a film I like, I must go out and see every film that the director has made...and even worse, collect the director's entire body of work for my video, laser & DVD library...

This behavior has not only driven my wife Marlene crazy, but has forced us into building a huge library/ "Dream Theater museum" seperately from the rest of my house so nobody gets hurt! : )

As anybody who has interviewed me would tell you, I would rather spend my time discussing & promoting other bands or films than talking about myself or Dream Theater....(How DT or my record company continue to let me be the band's main spokesman is still beyond me!!!) : )

What this part of my web-site provides is a real look into my biggest interests:
Film, Boxing and of course, Music....(and a few other things for good measure)

Some of you may read through these lists and say "you know, I could care less about this crap!"....but that's OK with me; because of my OCD, I had fun compiling these lists....even if only for myself! ...

This page is home to resources of all kinds relating to my favorite jazz drummer, Leon Parker. Besides his incomparable skills on the kit, what I like about Parker is his musical vision. Simply put, he combines musical traditions--jazz, African, Latin, and others--with innovation. So many of today's jazz musicians fall into one of two categories. They're either "neotraditionalists," such as Wynton Marsalis, who would like nothing more than to turn back the clock to the "golden years" of jazz of the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. Or, they are in the less well-known population of the "avant-garde," whose music is innovative and perhaps interesting, but its abandonment of traditional musical forms makes it inaccessible noise to the ears of most people. To me, Leon Parker combines the best of both worlds: his music has a fresh, interesting sound, but it's rooted in rhythmic grooves that make it accessible: it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing.
Born: August 21, 1965, in White Plains, New York.
Leon Parker consistently shows that less is more by making a great deal of music on a greatly reduced drum set sometimes consisting only of a snare drum, bass drum and a cymbal. Parker started playing drums when he was three and became serious when he was around 11. At 15 he playing in a local youth jazz band, and two years later, he started studying classical percussion. After graduating from high school, Parker moved to New York City, taking lessons with Barry Harris and freelancing ...

David Oromaner, information, music, photos, bio, equipment, discography.
Known for his versatility, vibrant live energy, and musical malleability, David Oromaner has entered the realm of New York City's in-demand drummers. His diverse background as a musician ranges from live performances, studio sessions and recording dates, to Carnegie-Hall neighborhood clinics, Cabarets, and finally to teaching his craft.

Growing up in the suburbs of Long Island, David was constantly surrounded by music. "My earliest musical memories are of my older cousin Richard playing drums in his basement for hours. There was just something about being surrounded by sound—a raw, primal energy that instantly got me hooked." Adding to the fire was David's musically obsessed older brother, who would blast Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and Pink Floyd from his boom box, which was set at no less than an "11." In addition to influences seeping in from his bedroom wall, David was also discovering classical and jazz on his own. The objects of his admiration included Basie, Roach, Bonham, Bruford, Peart, and John Williams. The combination of all these influences helped shape David as a drummer, which he became at the early age of eleven, when he inherited his cousin's drums.

However, from ages 10 to 17, David's main instrument was trumpet. David attented Wantagh High School, where he studied theory and jazz improvisation under the tutelage of Rolann Masciarelli. As a senior he was awarded the prestigious' Louis Armstrong Jazz Award.' In addition to trumpet studies, David pursued private drum lessons at the Long Island Drum Center with a great teacher and fusion drummer named Dave Stark. David then went on to pursue both business and music at SUNY Albany, where he studied with percussionist Richard Abagli and jazz drummer Dave Calarco.

After college, David relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. One of the first musicians he met was guitarist Dan Marshall, who had recently opened the doors to his studio in Little Five Points, called 'Levelheads.' David began laying down live,' pre-produced' drum tracks at the studio in order to develop recording techniques and sounds. Eventually, he garnered the attention of various Atlanta based singer/songwriters who needed drum tracks for their LPs and demos ...

Toni Cannelli first entered the world of professional drumming 21 years ago at the age of 17. He has performed with many artists including Mac and Katie Kissoon, and top U.K. guitarists Jim Mullen and Gary Boyle.

In 1987 Toni set up The Drummers' Alliance, an organisation to promote drums and percussion. The Drummers' Alliance has set up, and run four of the U.K's biggest drumming events in the form of National U.K. drumming competitions.

In 1990 Toni Cannelli joined forces with Sabian cymbals, Remo drums and Vic Firth sticks.

As an educator and clinician, he has performed over 200 drum workshops including the first Scottish drum festival, alongside U.S. drummer Gregg Bissonette. He has also performed joint drum clinics with Ricky Lawson (Michael Jackson's drummer), Jim Chapin (Top Drum Educator), Mike Mangini (drummer for Steve Vai and Extreme), Akira Jimbo (Japan's number 1 drummer!) and world famous drummer, Dennis Chambers.
