Al Petteway and Amy White:
Award-winning, critically acclaimed, passionate and playful. They are all that and they're married, too. Al & Amy are an acoustic performing arts team committed to creating an intensely personal yet universal sound. They draw inspiration from musical traditions across the globe and distill these myriad styles into a rich and unique voice – a timeless recipe for healing, heartfelt music. During their live shows, this husband and wife team captures the hearts of their audiences with the obvious love they have for one another and the colorful stories about the places, history and events that inspire their music. They invite their listeners to seek out and celebrate beauty and joy in all aspects of life.

Al & Amy first began performing and recording together as a duo in early 1995 creating an exciting blend of contemporary, Celtic- and Appalachian influenced, original and traditional instrumental and vocal music on acoustic guitars, mandolin, vocals, Celtic harp, banjo, Irish bouzouki, piano and world percussion. They are among the most respected and well liked acts in the acoustic music scene and have been Artists In Residence at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage and perform at some of the finest concert venues in the country. Their signature sound is heard often on NPR, in independent films and on radio shows across the globe (not to mention all of the healing centers and birthing rooms.) While living in the Washington, D.C. area, they won a grand total of 50 WAMMIES from the Washington Area Music Association in the Folk, Celtic and New Age categories and 5 grants from the Maryland State Arts Council for both composition and instrumental performance. In 2001, they won a coveted “INDIE” award in the Acoustic Instrumental category from the Association for Independent Music (now part of the Grammy organization.) In 2005, Al received a GRAMMY Award from NARAS (National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences) for his solo fingerstyle guitar contribution to the pop instrumental compilation, “Pink Guitar” ...

Frank Gambale: guitar player.
Frank began playing guitar at age 7 in Canberra, Australia where he was born and raised. He was influenced by the blues playing of Jimi Hendrix , John Mayall / Eric Clapton, and Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia . In his mid-teens he discovered Steely Dan, The Brecker Brothers and Chick Corea, which pointed him in a jazzy direction. In 1982 at 23 he decided to leave his home to study at the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) in Hollywood. He graduated with the highest honor, Student of the Year and was offered a teaching position which he kept for 4 years. During that time he was playing the local jazz club circuit with his own band and already had his first book "Speed Picking" published. In 1986 he signe a 3 album contract with a small label called Legato and began his recording career.
The same year he was recruited by Jean-luc Ponty to tour. Shortly after that tour, he auditioned for Chick Corea and began a 6 year stint which culminated in 5 albums, a Grammy award and two Grammy Nominations. Chick helped expose Frank to the world, for which he is very grateful, "playing with Chick was like a dream come true" says Frank ...

The Vernon Reid Website. A tribute to one of the greatest guitarists, songwriters and composers of our time.

Vernon Reid 's music has broken down barriers in terms of race and racial stereotypes everywhere. His unique music style has evolved from the fusion of various other styles, freely expressing thoughts and emotions. The true revolutionaries, both musical and social, are the ones that pave the way for others, and Vernon has truely done the groundwork for musicians everywhere. His music may not be appreciated by all, but this is what makes it great; we know that the genius of most true artists were never appreciated in their day, but long afterwards. Free-thinking musicians and listeners today can appreciate his music at that other level ...

Chris Bitten:
Listening and talking to Chris gives you the first impression that he is truly a jazz artist, soft spoken and humble, Chris believes that one has to remember where you come from in order to know where you are going, and in his own words he would tell you that, “there's no future without a past”.

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Chris had a natural affinity for music. He began tinkering with drums at the age of six, and eventually taught himself to play. One day while his dad was playing the organ after church service , friends and family gathered around, Chris was moved by the music, he slipped over to the drums and started playing along with his dad, everyone was truly amazed at this little kid, even though it seemed like the drum sticks were bigger than him, it was like the service had started all over again.

This seemed to have opened the door way to the beginnings of his music career, Chris was now the regular drummer for his church and was also hired by many choirs through out the Birmingham area. Chris became very popular in the church community and more surprises were in store for everyone as he matured and seasoned. He wrote and produced a song entitled "Lord l Try" that received air play on local gospel radio stations for a group which he named "The Bitten's “ which consisted of his two younger brothers.

Chris moved on to venture the world of music, and it was then that he formed the jazz band "Xpoz'd" which received great reviews in local newspapers and was chosen to entertain the Olympic committee which hosted the world soccer games in Alabama. During this time he met and recorded with jazz recording artist Eric Essix who featured Chris on a tune entitled "Out Da Frame" ...

Official website for jazz and jazztronica recording artist Chris Standring.
"Groovalicious!" sounds like just the sort of thing Austin Powers might say if he heard the deliciously funky, ultra-hip and vibey, retro-jazz-soul flavors on Chris Standring's long awaited follow-up to Hip Sway, his hit 2000 recording which defined the urban-minded contemporary jazz experience as we crossed millenniums.

Since the release of Velvet, his 1998 debut as a solo artist, The British born guitarist has titled his discs as a way of defining the places his creative muse has taken him. Velvet, whose single "Cool Shades" went Top 10 for over three months on Gavin/Radio & Records' airplay charts, came at a time when Standring was into the ambient European phenomenon known as the "chill out movement." The seductive moniker of Hip Sway, whose title track featuring sax great Richard Elliot peaked at #2 and was one of 2000's most played songs, captured the retro-flavored, dance floor ready, funk-soul-jazz 60's mindset explored by Standring with his bandmates Rodney Lee (keyboards), Dino Soldo (sax), Andre Berry (bass) and Dave Karasony (drums). The title of the 2001 U.K. and Europe only compilation release Shades of Cool is obviously self-perpetuating ...
