Description
Innovative acoustic guitar virtuoso Leo Kottke was born September 11, 1945 in Athens, Georgia. Raised in 12 different states, he absorbed a variety of musical influences as a child, flirting with both violin and trombone before trying his hand at the guitar at age 11. After developing a love for the country-blues of Mississippi John Hurt, Kottke lost much of the hearing in his left ear as a result of a mishap with a firecracker; during a later tenure in the Naval Reserve, his right ear suffered permanent damage during firing practice.
Discharged due to his impairment, Kottke entered college, dropping out after several years to hitchhike across the country as an itinerant musician. After settling in the Twin Cities area and becoming a fixture on the city's folk club circuit, he issued his 1969 debut LP Twelve String Blues, recorded live at Minneapolis' Scholar Coffee House, on the tiny Oblivion label. After sending 1970's Circle 'Round the Sun to guitarist John Fahey, Kottke was signed by Fahey's manager Denny Bruce, who soon secured a deal with Capitol ...

Tim Farrell is one of the select group of musicians who exemplify all that is excellent in their field and who have the unique ability to entertain their audience and inspire future generations of players.
Tim understands well the intricate mechanics of music, yet his playing and original compositions display an elegant simplicity that celebrates the purity of the acoustic guitar.

Tim has written many works for the guitar as a solo instrument and with other instruments. He has provided the music for Multimedia Presentations, TV and radio shows , Soundtracks, and Interactive Theater productions.
Tim regularly receives airplay on individual radio stations internationally, as well as on syndicated programs such as Echoes, Acoustic Digest, The World Cafe, Rock'n'Roots in the USA and Alphabeat in Europe.

Tim is on the roster of Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour, a wonderful organization that provides grant money to help non-profit organizations fund concert and residency programs by it's select roster of artists.
Tim is also a member of the faculty of the Doylestown School of Music and the Arts in Doylestown, PA. He teaches private lessons, does workshops, and visits schools as part of his desire to further develop the knowledge, enjoyment, and appreciation of music.

A native of Brazil, Aliéksey Vianna is one of the few guitarists equally at ease in the worlds of jazz and classical music alike. While still an undergraduate, Vianna distinguished himself by winning first place honors in the Portland Festival Solo Guitar Competition (1998), second place in the prestigious Stotsenberg International Guitar Competition (1997), first place in the Schaeffer Guitar Competition (1995), first place in the Sholin Memorial Guitar Competition (1997) and first place in the Ralph Stevens Guitar Competition (1997). He also received the Tucson Jazz Society award (1995) and the Herb Ellis Award as best jazz guitarist at the 1997 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival.
An international concert artist, Vianna has given solo and ensemble recitals in the United States, Brazil, Mexico and France, and performed in master classes of Abel Carlevaro, Oscar Gighlia, David Leisner, Sharon Isbin, Ivan Rijos, Scott Tennant, Gordon O'Brien, Paul O'Dette, Nigel North and Ralph Towner.
