Steve Grimes has built arch top and double soundhole flat top guitars for some of the top players in the world. He specializes in custom tailoring his guitars to suit the tonal, aesthetic, and playability requirements of his customers ... Music and woodworking are two very different types of “performing” arts. Being both a woodworker and a working musician in 1972, I found myself fascinated by the prospect of combining these two professions. After studying with a violin maker and working in the instrument repair trade, I set up my own shop in Seattle, Washington, USA and began making arch top mandolins. For the first two years I made mandolins exclusively, subsidizing my new venture by doing repairs on all types of string instruments. When I was able to increase production of new instruments and get them into the hands of some good players, I was finally able to devote myself fully to building new instruments.
Being more of a guitar player than a violin or mandolin player, I found that my interests were leaning more toward guitar construction, and in 1974 I began making acoustic arch top guitars. Soon the number of guitars exceeded the number of mandolins being produced, and new and different models of guitars found their way into the product line. In 1982, I began making two new types of flat top guitars (a steel string and a classical), a semi hollow body arch top electric, and an oval soundhole acoustic arch top ...

We DO NOT believe in 'stamping out' guitars like the brand names at costs of less than $100 per unit and selling them through retail stores for $500-$1200+!
As we step into 2005 we are marketing our instruments through partnering with performance artists who are on the verge of major recording contracts. They expose our instruments to fans and profesionals who we hope will see the superior quality of our products and want to play a Millennia!
We are interested in long term, sustained growth through quality, integrity and passion to sell a guitar because it is superior not because we want to make a 'quick buck'.
As we roar towards 2006 we will be developing relationships with companies from Europe and Asia and will act as their representative in the United States to distribute other superior quality guitars!

The Pop Series Guitar is a high quality, innovative, versatile instrument that is available in a variety of eye-catching colors. The design strategy focused on two main issues: the lack of recent innovation in the guitar industry and the consumption of irreplaceable natural resources in the production of guitars. The Pop series guitars have been perfected for balance, ergonomics and tone. A wide assortment of ribs and bodies in many bold, contemporary colors can then be added to produce an infinite variety of styles to appeal to a wide array of consumers. From a sustainability standpoint, the amount of tone woods has been significantly reduced. Typically guitars contain eight to ten pounds of tone woods from the rain forests of Central and South America. The RKS Pop series uses less than two pounds, which is obtained from domestic tree farms.
