Pearl Jam & Mike McCready site with the latest news, guitar tabs (over 400!!), mp3s, concert of the month, and much much more!
Mike McCready was born on April 5, 1966, in Pensacola, Florida. I'm not sure why his family ended up in Seattle but I know they moved there shortly after Mike's birth. An only child, his mother was an elementary school art teacher and his father was a city employee. His parents were into artists like Hendrix and Santana, and as a child mike would soak them in while beating his dad's bongo drums with pencils. By the time he reached the age of 10 his friends had turned him onto Kiss and Aerosmith. Shortly after his 11th birthday he walked into Kennelly Keys, a local music store, and purchased his first electric guitar, a Mateo Les Paul Copy that he still owns.
Mike began to take lessons with a local instructor Mike Wilson. He began learning the licks and styles of Joe Perry and Ritchie Blackmore, but mainly Paul Stanley: "I worship Kiss. They're the whole reason I started playing guitar." Soon after Mike discovered, playing out of his 10-watt Fender Champ, something that would change his life forever-FEEDBACK!!!: "I used to play 'smoke on the water', and I remember my dad coming up and yelling at me because I was getting feed back out of my amp; I just thought it was really cool." By the eighth grade Mike formed his first band Warrior, which shortly after was renamed Shadow ...

The Vernon Reid Website. A tribute to one of the greatest guitarists, songwriters and composers of our time.

Vernon Reid 's music has broken down barriers in terms of race and racial stereotypes everywhere. His unique music style has evolved from the fusion of various other styles, freely expressing thoughts and emotions. The true revolutionaries, both musical and social, are the ones that pave the way for others, and Vernon has truely done the groundwork for musicians everywhere. His music may not be appreciated by all, but this is what makes it great; we know that the genius of most true artists were never appreciated in their day, but long afterwards. Free-thinking musicians and listeners today can appreciate his music at that other level ...

Laurence Juber:
Lead Guitarist for 'Wings'
Two-time GRAMMY® winner
Fingerstyle Guitarist Of The Year
Studio Guitarist on Oscar- and Emmy-winning movies and TV shows
Magazine Columnist
As a young working musician in London, England in the 1970s, Laurence Juber got an extraordinary, life-changing break when Paul McCartney hand-picked him to become Wings’ lead guitarist. Juber spent three years recording and touring with the band. During that time he won a Best Rock Instrumental GRAMMY® Award for the track "Rockestra" from the Wings album Back To The Egg.

After Wings disbanded in 1981, Juber embarked on a career as a solo artist, composer and arranger, and soon developed a reputation as a world-class guitar virtuoso, being voted #1 by Fingerstyle Guitar magazine. He has released 11 critically acclaimed solo albums, including "LJ Plays the Beatles" and "Guitarist". His new release, "One Wing", is a collection of solo guitar arrangements drawn from the Paul McCartney and Wings repertoire ...

The official home page for Numavox Records and Kerry Livgren - with Warren Ham, Jamie and Chris Kearney, Bleu Adams, Jabberwockie, AD and Michael Gleason.
Founded in 1994 by Kerry Livgren, Numavox records started as the primary label for his composition and recording projects following his work with Kansas. After moving from Atlanta Georgia back to his childhood home of Topeka, Kansas, Kerry followed the label formation with the construction of a new recording facility.

Numavox's studio occupies a large barn on Livgren's farm. While the outside may look like other buildings in the area, hay is the last thing you'll find inside. Featuring a spacious live room, vocal booth and cavernous control room, the studio provides a focal point for Kerry's own musical work, as well as his work with other artists.

The Numavox catalog includes work from Kerry and other artists, and related projects are distributed through Numavox. In this way, the label serves not only a role for its artists, but as a nexus for others who work with them. Combining work with his label, his music, outside projects and other artists, Numavox records and its studio are always busy—sometimes almost too busy for Kerry, who also balances his farm, study and family life in one environment.

This past year saw the release of The Best of Kerry Livgren, celebrating two decades since his first solo album. A contemporary retrospective, the CD highlighted his diverse songwriting and composition, both past and current. Proto-KAW, an album of Kerry's songs performed by Kansas II (the band which preceeded the familiar Kansas), was released later in 2002 by Cuneiform records, to wide acclaim. The sequel, an album of newly recorded songs by the original members, was released in April of 2004 on Inside Out records ...

Guitarist Paul Jackson Jr. keeps an intense, breakneck schedule. In addition to the demands of being a Grammy nominated solo artist, Jackson is a highly in-demand sideman and session player. In the two years since he released The Power of the String, his last Blue Note recording, the popular guitarist performed in the television special Diva Las Vegas (behind Cher, Shakira, Mary J. Blige and Whitney Houston, with whom he toured throughout the Nineties), participated in the Billboard Awards tribute to Jam Master Jay, composed music for the film Undercover Brother with Stanley Clarke, and contributed to the TV hit Cedric the Entertainer. In the midst of all that activity, the deeply spiritual Jackson continues to seek quiet time in which to listen to the “still small voice” of God. Those moments played a key role in the creation of his sixth solo album, so it was only “super” natural that he titled the extraordinary project, Still Small Voice.
A great benefit of being on the short list of top-flight versatile session and live performance musicians is forging relationships with the best producers and performers in his chosen genres. His 1996 classic Never Alone/Duets featured high profile collaborations with legendary pals Kirk Whalum, Joe Sample, Jeff Lorber, Earl Klugh, Ray Parker Jr. and Gerald Albright, while The Power of the String included guest spots by Boney James, Mervyn Warren and Patrice Rushen. Some of the contributing “voices” to the new project are Lorber (who also co-produced “Sportsman Park” with Jackson), Albright, bassist and fellow Houston tour member Ricky Minor, electric piano/keyboard greats Rushen, Billy Preston, Ricky Peterson and Brian Culbertson, the Earth, Wind & Fire horn section (Ray Brown, Gary Bias and Reggie Young) with the addition of Patches Stewart and Andy Wiener, and percussionist Sheila E. Jackson produced six tracks on his own, and tandem on others with Alan Abrahams, Brian Culbertson and James Reese (a songwriter and friend from Jackson’s childhood growing up in South Central L.A.) ...
