Abbey Road Studios: Abbey Road Studios is quite simply the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened in 1931, the Studio made its name with big orchestral recordings and of course, The Beatles. Abbey Road today, is probably the most technically advanced recording & mixing, stereo and surround mastering & remastering, interactive design & digital video complex in the World. The house at number 3 Abbey Road, St John’s Wood, was originally purchased by EMI in 1929 with a view to transform it into the World’s first custom built recording studio. Work began on the sixteen roomed residence, (nine bedrooms, five reception rooms, two servant rooms, a wine cellar and 250 foot garden) and in just under two years it was complete. Three varying sized studios had been built in the garden and neighbouring garden spaces in order to accommodate the different categories of music which were being recorded at that time — a full orchestra, string quartets or choral work, and instrumental soloists and singers. Lion Paw Productions is a digital Pro-Tools recording studio. Everything from R&B and Hip-Hop to Country and Rock have been recorded here. Lion Paw Productions offers Full Album Production as well as Demo Recording.
After owning and operating a commercial studio for years and being head engineer of two other studios prior to that, I gave up the easy money and now do mostly production work. I still go out to other studios and engineer sometimes but I tend to sit in the production chair a lot more these days. This change in my work habit has cut out most of the “going absolutly no where” projects I had been working on for years. No more rappers that can’t figure out that key word in music business is “MUSIC”!!!! No more singers that don’t know they can’t sing. No more old guys (has beens) that can’t tell the difference between vintage and just plain...old. The bad songwriters, the self-indulgent album projects, artist that think they’re record producers...(I could go on and on) all gone.
Now-a-days, I’m working on projects that I believe in, where we agree on the goals of the project and what everyone’s relationship to the project is. Whether it’s hip hop or turkish folk music, we must agree on the vision and all parties involved have to make the no B.S. commitment ...
