Nestled in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, surrounded by great evergreen forests and under the shadow of majestic Mt. Rainier, McCauley Sound, Inc. is an American company founded in the humble frontier spirit of discovery and driven forward by a traditional pride in the merits of craftsmanship.
As an innovator and leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance professional loudspeaker systems and raw-frame loudspeaker components, McCauley Sound is the only professional audio company still based in the United States who both engineers new technologies and manufactures products entirely in-house and under our direct control.
McCauley Sound, Inc. was founded in 1979 by Tom McCauley, and throughout the decades since, Tom’s breakthrough designs have powered many of the most famous names in the business. Still owner operated, still operating in the domain of mad science, and driven by a real passion for great sound, we are proud to be the company that goes the extra mile for our customers, our people... and to design and build the technologies they depend on. Tom’s dedication to principle is obvious in every detail, each idea, driving us forward, permeating every product we make.
Examine any given loudspeaker product and you'll find a collection of different acoustic and structural technologies, all of which are engineered to work as a single system, a sum greater than its parts. Coils, suspensions, windings, basket geometries, magnetics, electronics, mechanical rigging systems, enclosure elements, weatherproofing, dispersion, phase and pattern control devices, etc... all of which must work in harmony to create just ONE single, finished, integrated loudspeaker system... and from there it only gets more complicated when designing for complex multi-cell arrays ...
Phoenix Audio International (UK) was originally formed in July 1996 by Shaun Leveque to provide a British service for owners of pre 1980 Neve recording consoles.
After spending a number of successful years maintaining and modifying recording consoles, Shaun decided to design and produce a range of high quality, Class A, discrete products that would be a valuable addition to any recording studio.
At the forefront of circuit design is David Rees. David is an ex-Neve design engineer with an impressive array of designs to his credit. Probably the most famous design is the Neve 2254 Limiter/compressor.
Our range of products are designed, built and wired in-house by professional wiremen and engineers with many years experience that take great pride in the quality of their craftsmanship. We aim to produce First Class, Class A, discrete equipment that is fully backed by a growing network of distributors based across Europe and the USA.
Phoenix Audio (UK) products are unique, original and are carefully and expertly designed to combine the advantages of many years of audio experience with today's component and manufacturing technology.
Ideal for music balancing, mastering, film dubbing, surround sound monitoring and post production work.
Most compact is the 101A. Popularly used for desktop editing and by travelling mix and remix engineers, who require a monitor they can trust. The 202A will produce double the volume level of the 101A and also has greater bass extension. The 301A, currently the largest monitor in this range, is capable of sustaining very high output levels whilst maintaining the same frequency response as the 202A.
For full frequency coverage 802FEU’s (Frequency Extension Units) are available. These units integrate seamlessly with all Excel monitors extending full rich bass down to the lowest octave. FEU’s also form the perfect speaker stand for all Excel Compact Monitors.
The drivers are manufactured to our own specifications, using the latest technology. They exhibit a smooth frequency response, excellent dynamics and low distortion. The bass drivers central phase plug ensures excellent off axis response and provides extra voice coil cooling, reducing power compression to a minimum.
A rear mounted two way amplifier matches perfectly to the drive units. The crossovers are minimum phase and use high order active filters providing accuracy and stability. They have soft-start circuitry and are connected directly to the drive units providing maximum protection and control. These features give the Compact range a clear advantage over passive alternatives.
Now a world-leader in music products, professional audio and sound contracting equipment, Samson Technologies was founded in 1980, when a couple guys started designing and manufacturing low-cost 49 MHz wireless microphone and instrument systems in the back room of a music store.
The original wireless products offered reliability at prices unheard of at the time. These systems were quickly accepted by performers and musicians at every level of the music industry. It would prove to be the beginning of what was to become one of the most significant professional audio technologies of our times.
Over the years, Samson has pioneered a number of technical breakthroughs in wireless such as the incorporation of dbx Noise Reduction, synthesized wireless with selectable frequencies, the first 19" rack-mount receiver, Microprocessor-controlled True Diversity (dual receiver) designs and cost-effective UHF wireless for live sound applications, system contracting and video.
Samson also was the first company to introduce micro-transmitter wireless systems that don't require belt packs: The Airline System.
Expanding its scope in the mid eighties, Samson moved into its current role as manufacturer and distributor for a wide range of popular product lines.
The first company to come aboard was Hartke Systems, an innovative American bass amp and cabinet manufacturer known for their unique aluminum cone drivers. Samson Technologies is now the exclusive world-wide distributor of Hartke amplifiers, cabinets, combos and bass guitars.
In 1992 Samson successfully launched its Audio division, with a rapidly expanding line of products that now includes mixers, digital and analog signal processors, power amplifiers, microphones, powered mixers, graphic equalizers, PA Speaker systems, studio monitors, headphones, racklight/power distribution systems, and more. Like everything Samson makes, all of these products have had immediate impact on the MI market, thanks to exceptional features, sonic performance and reasonable prices.
An association with Zoom in 1993 represented another major step forward for the company. Zoom, the highly regarded Japanese manufacturer of digital signal processors, first sent shock waves through the music products industry with its breakthrough ultra-compact 9002 guitar multi-effects unit.
This successful partnership has led to a wide-ranging line of instrument multi-effect processors like the 500 Series and the hugely successful Zoom 606 Guitar and 607 Bass effects pedals. More recently Zoom has also taken the home recording world by storm with their MRS Series of digital multi-track recorders.
Samson is proud to be the exclusive U.S distributor of Zoom products.
At Samson we remain committed to the development of exciting and innovative new products that have the features, sound quality and reliable performance our customers have come to expect.
