Welcome to the new Opus Audio Developments website, which will be continually developed and expanded over the coming months. We may lag behind some of our competitors in marketing because we focus on our products, where we lead in sound quality - so we make no apology for our priorities. At Opus we recognise no limits in the pursuit of pure sound and so, aiming for perfection, we set out to imagine a new kind of sound system.

In which drivers are supremely loud and yet are never over-driven. In which sound field dispersion and coherence are precisely controlled.
We dreamt of a system powered by the world’s most detailed ultra-fi amplifiers with cooling systems so efficient that they never even run hot, let alone overheat.
A system in which breathtaking sound quality go hand in hand with proven reliability. A system guaranteed to stay working year after year in the most hostile environments.

Professional reinforcement loudspeaker systems featuring exceptional efficiency and clarity
for the professional concert touring, rental and installation contractor markets.
During the early eighties a small group of Belgian Audio Professionals aligned themselves with respected mathematician and locally renowned Audio system designer Mr. Marcel Put, to develop a loudspeaker that would sound totally natural whenever loud music was desired or needed. From a modest laboratory and test facility, located in his native town of Lummen in Belgian Limburg, Mr. Put embarked on an extensive research project with the objective of finding a solution to the excessive levels of distortion typically experienced from listening to medium and medium/high frequency spectrums produced by loudspeaker system used for live sound touring purposes at the time.
As a result of burning lots of proverbial “midnight oil” Mr.Put recognized that it was not possible to offer a solution to this problem within the confinements of the commonly practiced way of utilizing horn loaded compression drivers to reproduce medium and high frequencies. The core of the problem was found in that at high SPL levels these horn loaded electro-magnetic transducers deliver as much as 25 to 50% unwanted but very audible and annoying harmonic distortion. Valve (tubes for you people in the US) electronics feature a selected triode impedence converter, with current feedback driving a large expensive transformer.
The mic exhibits a smooth extended high-frequency response with good front to back rejection.
The power supply is fully smoothed and regulated. A prescence switch and a 10db cut are incorporated. Fixed cardoid directional pattern.

Nowadays, Selenium owns one of the most modern speaker plants, including 40 thousand square meters and a production capacity exceeding 4 million speakers, certified according to ISO 9001 and QS 9000 standards.
