Description
Oscar Trezzini, Luthier:
I have been making classical guitars since 1982. My current workshop is located in Geneva, Switzerland.

I personally design and craft all stages of construction, including the seasoning and the choice of the wood, the marquetry of each rosette, and the application of the French polish. A guitar requires four months of construction time ; and I make ten guitars in a year.

By means of this website I will show you my present work, the ancient productions, and some of the techniques I use when constructing the guitars. You will also be able to find testimonials that my clients have written about their experiences with their guitars, and to hear a sample of my guitars played by some of my clients.

As the classical guitar is an instrument in constant development, aside from my annual production, I carry out research on new structures and new materials. This adds understanding to the complex mechanisms of guitar production.

I became, and remain today, surrounded by clients and friends who, besides accompanying me with their music, contribute to my chosen path by trying my guitars and giving their professional viewpoints. The French guitar maker Dominique Field, with his keen perception and rich experience, coaches me as I strive to create the best possible guitars.

Lucas Guitars:
I was born in Lincoln, England in 1957 and began playing guitar at the age of fourteen. I later studied architecture, and left college with a degree and a sense of structure and form. A stint as a joiner reinforced my interest in working with wood, originally absorbed as a child in the environment of the family joinery business. Meanwhile constant activity as a musician deepened my understanding of the guitar from a player's perspective.

I began building guitars in 1990, originally building classical guitars. I added steel string acoustics soon after. I have experimented with and refined various design ideas over the years and have arrived at some unique and successful models.

During my time as a guitar maker I have illustrated a book on guitar making, 'Making Master Guitars' by Roy Courtnall (Robert Hale 1993). This has become something of a standard textbook in the field and was a real stepping stone in my own research and building methods. Subsequently I produced illustrations for 'The Art of Violin Making', by Chris Johnson and Roy Courtnall (Robert Hale 1999).

Classical guitar
Mod. "R.T." (registry of soundboard)

The conception is innovative and further revolutionines the versatility of the guitar.
In fact the particular construction of the soundboard allow tension control which results in a variation of the basic soundboard Hz.
Some advantages of the R.T. model are listed below:
The possibility of varying the tone of the instrument.
The soundboard allows optimal sound levels under varying hygrometrical conditions.
The possibility of adaptong the instrument to suit interpretation requirements by increasing or diminishing the soustain on the trebles and on the bass;
Strengthened sonority on the third string (sol), one of the weak point of guitars in general ...
