Puff & Pys is a kind of old fashion drum synth.... It is totally free for you to use, if you like it.
Now the much improved version 1.0 is here. The 0.9 beta version was downloaded by nearly 300 persons and I received great comments about it.
Now I have tried to include some of the suggestions and make Puff & Pys even better!
However it would be nice for my ego to know if somebody uses it , and I would also be happy
to listen to your music where Puff & Pys is playing (I would gladly link to it).
The skin is for Tracktion, my favorite sequencer (you can find link a in the table to the left).
Main features:
- physical modeling (no samples)
- tweakable sounds (you can save your own presets)
- filters on snare and kick (new in version 1.0)
- low CPU demands
- midi automation (new in version 1.0)
- multi out (for Tracktion racks) , first 2 stereo out then separate channel for each instrument (new in version 1.0)
- pads on the VST:i for sound tweaking without a keyboard
- goes well with Tracktion (skin, automation and multi out)
- a couple of great sounding presets
- Free, no cost at all !

Blaster:
i believe that this is the vsti which draws complaints about "old synthedit synths having ugly guis" :)
two sine oscs separately modulated with a pitch drop envelope and a filtered noise source, then filtered. the intention is to emulate two-headed acoustic drums. add another filtered noise source, seperately amplified, to emulate the snap.
there is no included manual, but i believe only two functions require explanation - the type knob in the noise section fades between band pass and high pass filtering... the modulation noise source runs through a filter ('mod f' and 'mod r') for flexible noise colouration, and is then trimmed to modulate each oscillator ('mod.')

By using this plugin on single drum tracks like Snare or Kick you can replace the sound with any sample (.WAV file) you like. Great if you've tried everything to salvage a poorly recorded drum sound and got nowhere!
If you like this plugin but fancy something a bit more sophisticated, have a look at Drumagog. It's not free but it has a lot more features.
Controls:
WAV - The sample to play when the unit is triggered
Threshold - Signals above this level will trigger the unit
Retrigger - A time delay between triggers, to stop false triggering
Output - The overall volume of the sample playback
