petros guitars
petros guitars
Description
Bruce & Matt Petros, father and son luthiers, are dedicated to building the finest handmade guitars money can buy. Bruce began building back in 1972 and son Matthew came on board officially in 2000. They concentrate on building lush steel string fingerstyle guitars and powerful dreadnought guitars. Petros guitars feature meticulously crafted pre-stress arched tops. This time-consuming process dramatically increases the strength and stability of the top while enhancing tonal response and volume. All of the braces are pre-shaped and glued on at once in a vacuum jig ensuring a perfect fit to the 30 foot radius workboard. In addition to arching, each top is also graduated and thinned around the edges, not just assembled from a uniformly thicknessed piece right out of the sander. The process of arching and graduating the top creates a guitar which delivers brilliant, sustaining trebles and midranges and a rich, full bass.

The overtone structure is balanced over the whole range of the instrument and filled with character. There is the unmistakable sense that the instrument is "alive" as it responds to your hands — a transparent extension of your musical expression. These unique and delightful musical qualities, when combined with a superbly playable neck, create an instrument which will inspire and elevate your music to new and higher levels ...

After more than 35 years of experience as guitarmaker and founder partner of
prestigious companies, Antonio Aparicio, has acquired in his new professional step the
commitment of reaching the highest quality in the instruments with his signature.

In our new workshop, we have joined the best craftsmanship of our workers with the
advantages that offers the advanced technology applied to our first ambition: To build
guitars with the best sound and tone, with the best woods, materials and with the greatest
finish and beaty.

Any guitar of our catalogue, from the Standard series to the Signature series, is built
with solid top and varnished with the traditional finish, not with polyester. Our new finish
provides a better looking of the wood, a great sonority, and a brillant and bigger sound.

Each model has been designed thinking in the performance qualities that the player is
going to requiere to the guitar. For this reason, we have included several bracings and
the most appropiate woods for getting the sounding features that define each model.

Different inner compositions and the combination of the woods in the construction
make each guitar special.

We have selected the best woods around the World, the best crafstmen and we have
put a lot of daydreaming and ideas for building the best Guitars.

Kinscherff Guitars: My journey into the life of a guitarmaker was the result of a natural progression. I started playing guitar in 1967. Being the curious person I am it wasn't long before I was experimenting with pawnshop wrecks. I actually made my first guitars in 1978, an electric and a dreadnought. I found gainful employment at the then-fledgling Taylor Guitars and worked there for a couple of years.

In the early eighties I moved back to my native Texas, repairing and building instruments in Dallas. Wanderlust struck in 1986 and I decided to go on a walkabout. After about a year and a half of adventures that included travel in Europe , N. Africa, India and Nepal, I returned to the US and again found work at Taylor.

By 1990 I was ready to move back to Texas, this time the capital, Austin. It was there that I made the first acoustic guitars under the Kinscherff name, and designed the models I now offer ...
