Tap the Red Cane Whirlwind represents a long-awaited opportunity to hear Kelly Joe recorded on disc performing solo in concert. Produced by Lee Townsend, the new CD is pure unadulterated Kelly Joe Phelps at his finest recorded in the intimate environments of two venues in which Kelly Joe has been performing for a long time - McCabe's in Santa Monica and The Freight and Salvage in Berkeley.
The repertoire includes seven favorite Kelly Joe originals, including "Jericho", "Tommy", "Not So Far to Go", "Fleashine", "Cardboard Box of Batteries", "Gold Tooth" and "Waiting for Marty" plus astonishing versions of two classic cover songs - "Hard Time Killin' Floor Blues" by Skip James and "I Am the Light of the World" by Reverend Gary Davis. Paul Gilbert: guitar player:
Born in Carbondale, Illinois, into a Polish[citation needed] middle class family, Paul started playing guitar at the age of 5, but soon gave up, becoming frustrated with just learning simple nursery rhymes. Around age 11, he took up the guitar again, but with a skewed memory of the technique; he played only with upstrokes, used only the low 'E' string and only used his middle finger on the fretboard. Frustrated after trying to play the intro to 'Barracuda' by Heart, he took lessons and his teacher explained the error of his ways. His technique corrected, Gilbert continued practicing and by the age of 14 he developed a local band in Greensburg, PA named Missing Lynx. They played together for approximately two years and wrote their own material. After Missing Lynx he then went on to join another local band called Tau Zero, but left shortly after, and headed for California. He was spotlighted in Guitar Player Magazine alongside fellow up-and-comer Yngwie Malmsteen ...

Trained as a classical guitarist, composer, and conductor, he has won several awards for his cultural projects, performances, and compositions. His compositions are performed by internationally acclaimed artists and ensembles.
Rafael Scarfullery has taught at Shenandoah University, the Universidad Autónoma of Santo Domingo, and the Conservatorio Nacional de Música of Santo Domingo. He has organized six guitar festivals in the Dominican Republic, where he has invited renowned guitarists. He is also an organist, and has taught harmony, music appreciation, and counterpoint. Being one of the most outstanding guitarists of the Dominican Republic, he has performed widely throughout his country, Puerto Rico, Haiti, and the U.S.A, and has been guitar judge in guitar competitions. He has the honor of being the first Dominican guitarist who performed Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez. Jerry Reed Hubbard was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on 20 March, 1937. He was the second child born to Robert Spencer Hubbard and Cynthia Hubbard, two Atlanta cotton mill workers who barely earned enough money to keep the family together. Jerry's birth strained an already troubled marriage, and four months later the couple separated. For the next seven years Jerry and his sister Patricia where shuttled between Georgia orphanages and foster homes. They finally returned home in 1944 when their mother married Hubert Howard, another mill worker.
Music provided a welcome diversion for the family. He was exposed to gospel music via his religious background, and a natural aptitude for singing gave him a yearning to become a musician at a very early age.
