Mayones Guitars and Basses:
All this started in 1982 in a little house-workshop as a family business manufacturing hand-made instruments for individual orders. The name Mayones itself comes from a company founder nickname. The production process of a single guitar took the average of 2-3 months then, in the early eighties. But thanks to our passion and commitment, or maybe for the simple fact that we were like pioneers on the Polish market, the orders were soon coming in dramatically faster than they could be filled. And recalling these memories, Poland of the communism era, we remember people queuing in front of our door the night before they could finally get their guitar... But this was the way Mayones became guitars & basses icon, and till today – the finest Polish bands have been using our gear.
And just after Poland's transition into a free-market economy, the timing was right to make a good use of new possibilities. We could finally invest in high precision machines and modern facilities. But the core is still people - because here at Mayones every single guitar or bass is hand-built by our team of 20 craftsmen and engineers. So when you play our instrument, you can feel their talent, hardwork and years of experience. That’s why every instrument is distinctive and a class for its own ...
Superb Tone, Comfort, and Playability.
A Custom Made Guitar That Will Set You Apart From All The Rest!
My name is John iliou (a lot of vowels) and I am a twenty-something year old guitar maker. I have been playing the guitar since
the age of 15 and have always loved rock music. I started making guitars as a hobby and as each guitar was completed, I realized
that my guitars sounded just as good, if not better than the overpriced brand-name guitars. My mission was to study all of the brand name guitars, inside and out, and create a better guitar ...
The Guitars of Jeffrey R. Elliott:
My instruments are based on the Torres/Hauser tradition in design, and are tailored to the individual. Aesthetics are important to me and are also addressed individually.
I consider the match between player and instrument a crucial relationship, and will work with the customer to achieve an instrument that is well suited musically, physically, and aesthetically. I also consider certain characteristics essential in all my guitars: sufficient power, volume, and projection for the large hall; a broad spectrum of dynamic responses, with a variety of colors, tones, and textures; crystalline clarity with good sustain; and evenness and balance throughout with good, clear separation string to string.
Jeffrey R. Elliott was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He began playing guitar at age sixteen and immediately fell in love with the sound of the classical guitar. This led to performing folk music professionally while majoring in Fine Arts at Michigan State University. In 1964, a chance visit to Richard Schneider's workshop in Detroit opened the door to the world of lutherie, and two years later he began a six-year apprenticeship with Schneider. In 1973 he moved to Portland, Oregon where he now resides with fellow luthier, Cyndy Burton ...
