Robert Rachelli - pro drummer available for recording sessions, touring and sub work. Playing the drums is not just a hobby, or a way to bring in income to support my family; drumming is the central rhythm in how I live my life, and it has been for nearly 20 years.
Throughout my drumming career I have been in a number of bands, touring primarily with Ventura and Santa Barbara groups. Additionally, I have also toured with Steel Pulse and opened for many well-known national acts.
My musical background experience is rich and varied. I am able to put in a groove or make up a part on-the-fly when I am recording in studio sessions, which is one of the reasons why Ed Kowalczyk (founding member/lead singer of Live) and John Locke (keyboardist for Nazareth and founding member/keyboardist of Spirit) love to record with me.
James Burn, drummer.

Drummer Alvin Queen's' website features reviews, sound bites, itinerary, biography, cds, drum set-up.
Alvin Queen was born on August 16, 1950 in the Bronx, New York, but his family relocated to Mt. Vernon when he was 2 years old. The Queens were poor, but the Levister Towers projects where Alvin grew up proved to be rich territory, as he was surrounded by many individuals who, like him, sprouted into the leading exponents of their generation.
There were scores of musicians, like sax men John Purcell and Jimmy Hill; vibraphonist Jay Hoggard; pianist Tommy James; B-3 organ champ Richard Levister; his swinging brother, Millard Levister on drums; and far too many others to name. And Alvin's list of celebrity running mates didn't end with musicians; they included future NBA stars like Ray Williams of the New York Knicks and Gus Williams of the Seattle Supersonics.
Alvin's hoop skills, however, were limited to the neighborhood courts, where he'd go head-to-head at the infamous Fourth Street playground with other wannabe hardwood stars, which included future Academy Award winner Denzel Washington. In fact, it was Denzel's father, Elder D. Washington Sr., who was pastor of the First Church of God In Christ, where Alvin's grandmother was a member. That church ended up playing a pivotal role in Alvin's life, because it's where he got his first dose of spirit-filled music, and -- after he began singing in the choir and playing the tambourine - it's where he began connecting with and conveying the rhythms of his life ...
Steve Smith was originally drawn to the drums by hearing marching bands in parades as a child in his native Massachusetts. At age nine, in 1963, Smith began studying the instrument in earnest with local teacher Bill Flanagan, who played in big bands in the swing era.
Smith's early inspiration at this time was drawn from the great drumming stars of the big bands such as Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson and Kenny Clarke, among others. In particular, regular trips in his youth to The Boston Globe Jazz Festival, where he first saw and heard his idols, made a special impact on his musical endeavors.
Smith performed in the usual school band program and garage bands while in his teens, but also began to broaden his performing experience by playing in a professional Brockton concert band and even the big band at the local college, Bridgewater State. After high school, Smith began studying music at the famed Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1972. There he received valuable instruction from such renowned teachers as Gary Chaffee and Alan Dawson. His drumming influences at this time came to include such notables as Tony Williams, Billy Cobham, Lenny White and Steve Gadd ...
