Description
RS Guitars is the result of a life long admiration of the Red Special guitar. This in conjunction with the fact that it has been virtually impossible to get an authentic style Red Special guitar, has led us to produce the RS Classic guitar. These guitars are custom built to order, and each will have its own unique character. We strive to produce top quality guitars with the finest available materials, giving you a lifetime to explore their sonic capabilities. So if you have always desired one of these guitars, and lacked the ability or desire to build one yourself, let us build your dream for you. RS Guitars are built using our authentic design specs and our own custom components, such as the custom replica knobs and the knife edge tremolo system.

A Schlemper guitar can be enjoyed for a lifetime. It ages like good wine and improves constantly. If you consider all the joy you get from such an instrument over the years, prices of 1500 to 6000 $US don't seem all that much.

There is no off-the-shelf material in my workshop. Everything is traditionally handcrafted from the finest wood and materials, such as hide glue and French polish. All purfling is made by hand.

Only 12 to 20 instruments are completed in my workshop per year because they are tailored to suit each individual guitarist. You can choose between different string scales of 63-66cm, different neck-measures, kinds of wood and different tuning machines. All tuning machines are fitted with my special "A-fino" bushes which have very little friction.

The "ebony fingerboards" , of my guitars are ergonomically curved. The curve is designed to follow the natural vibration of the strings allowing for smooth and effortless playing in all positions of the neck.

All guitars are available with the Schlemper System.

It is difficult for the audience in a concert hall to tell the difference between one good guitar and another. But differences are noticed very much by the guitarist who compares different instruments. Every detail has to be just right, because if you feel comfortable with your instrument your playing will be good. I think I've become quite good at noticing when things are right for a guitarist.

Earl S Marsh, classical guitar maker, with respect to Torres, Hauser, Romanillos.
A great deal of consideration has been given to the construction methods and design styles used by Torres, Hauser and Romanillos in the making of my guitars.
Each guitar is individual in its own right yet each imparts the specific character, quality of sound, craftsmanship and ease of playing recognised in all Earl S Marsh guitars.
Only the best in materials selection for guitar construction is acceptable in order to attain all of the qualities expected of a fine concert guitar.

The ingredients used for the mix I suppose can be said to be pretty much the same across a very wide range of guitar makers all over the world. But the guitar with that little extra comes from the maker with good hands, good eyes, good ears and that extra special added ingredient: 'Passion'.

This is what makes Earl S Marsh instruments worthy of the title 'Concert Guitars', and provides for purity and clarity of tone, together with excellent balance and projection.

My preferred choice of wood for the ribs and the backs of my guitars is Indian rosewood but I have used other woods such as English walnut, Myrtle, Jaguar ear, Maple and Arpuda. My preference for the soundboard is the best European spruce. I source this from the Swiss/Italian Alps and only the tightest grained spruce is used for the strutting and bracing. On occasion I also use the best quality Western red cedar with either cedar strutting or spruce strutting ...
