Dans cette rubrique musicale, nous trouvons :
Un texte explique ce que j'ai compris sur la théorie musicale ; ce texte, issu d'une interrogation simple ("Pourquoi 12 notes dans une octave de piano, dont 7 blanches ?"), parle de l'origine des gammes, de leur justification mathématique, et des implications plus ou moins musicales de ces gammes.

Cet autre texte sur le nom des notes explique de manière plus détaillée d'où viennent les syllabes "Ut" "Ré" "Mi", etc., dans une optique plutôt mystique et cryptique, puis les circonstances de l'apparition de ces syllabes, à savoir la solmisation, ancêtre du solfège.
S'y ajoute une page plus exotique, parlant des 22 srutis de la musique indienne. Ce texte est en quelque sorte en Bêta-version, car je manque d'informations pour la consolider. Si vous avez des informations sur ce sujet (compréhensibles par un béotien qui ne connaît ni l'indien, ni le solfège...), je suis preneur...

There must be a strong psychoacoustical basis for stability conditions. For pitch collections, this entails intervals that proceed gradually from very small to comparatively large frequency ratios.

It seems likely Lerdahl's point here is that intervals proceed gradually from small frequency ratios to larger frequency ones rather than suddenly. The classic Just diatonic scale does this and, to a lesser extent, so does the Pythagorean scale....
