biography:
"This One's a Peach" is a real change of musical direction for me. I've been interested in many forms of music and felt this new rootsier sound for a lack of a better term, really reflects where my heads at as of late. Learning to play the mandolin over the last year or so has been a blast along with playing my acoustic guitar a lot more while always keeping my Tele and Strat within close reach at all times has enabled me to compose in a different way. Having a studio in my home has been a real songwriter's dream because I can record a song whenever I wish and hear it back immediately which is a valuable tool for a composer.

I plan on putting a band together to play this new music of mine and playing live again. I've been busy the last year and a half composing music for the visual medium (film and television) which has been a lot of fun and a real learning experience and one that I continue to pursue but I do miss playing my guitar for an audience. Look for my new band to be playing out really soon.

I hope you enjoy the new music.

Joyce Cooling:
Guitarist,
Vocalist,
Songwriter:
A few short years ago, guitarist and songwriter Joyce Cooling took a good, hard look at her life. Glued to the TV like the rest of us, Cooling remembers the days after 9/11 and found her perspective on life jolted. "I asked myself," she recalls, "Is what Iím doing as a musician meaningful?" After lengthy, ardent talks with her long-time collaborator and partner Jay Wagner about a potential life without a career in music, Cooling proclaimed, "I don't know about you, but this girl's got to play."

Cooling has always wanted to make music.

Growing up in New Jersey and New York, she absorbed a wide variety of music and amassed a huge record collection. "My collection contains Ornette Coleman, João Bosco, and Bill Evans, but it also includes James Brown, Maurice Ravel, Jimi Hendrix, Abbey Lincoln and Aerosmith as well music from all over the world," she notes. "I like R&B. I like folk. I like heavy metal and headbanger stuff. I like punk. I like rap. I just like good music. There are no boundaries with me."

Coolingís penchant for the eclectic continued when she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1980s and began dabbling in keyboards and percussion. Music had long been the most passionate part of her life, but an actual career as a musician started taking shape only after she began hanging around an African drumming class taught by C.K. Ladzekpo, a renowned Ghanaian percussionist. Integrating the polyrhythmic sophistication of West African music with her passion for melody and harmony, Cooling focused her attention on playing, singing, and songwriting. "Everything crystallized when I heard Wes Montgomery's solo on If You Could See Me Now. From then on, it was as if guitar had chosen me."

Teaching herself to play guitar by ear, she developed a personal style of finger picking that has given her playing its unique sound and feel ...

Bill Farrish: Jazz Guitarist: The term “accomplished musician” only scratches the surface in a description of Bill Farrish. The range and breadth of his musical prowess are yet to be defined as he continues to write, perform and produce music.

Bill was born in 1962 in St. Albans in Queens, a borough of New York City which had been the home of many jazz greats. Bill began playing the guitar at 12, imitating the styles of renowned guitarists, including Buddy Guy. By 17 he became heavily influenced by the likes of instrumentalists with no particular association with the guitar. Bill studies his own instrument in relation to the music of Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and the immortal John Coltrane.

Although he was self-taught, Bill added to his arsenal of natural ability by receiving formal musical education. He earned a Bachelor of Music Performance, at Five Towns College in New York and endeavored in private studies JoAnne Brackeen, Joe Monk, Peter Rogine and Mark Elf.

Over the next two decades Bill would make his musical bones playing live, wherever his guitar could be heard. His unique style and creative phrasing he developed caught the ears of many locally and nationally known musicians. Among them were Bernard Purdie, Cecil Bridgewater, David Garibaldi, Jimmy Halperin, Ray Alexander, The Dennis Bram Quartet and Bob Emry ...

Classical Guitarist Rémi Boucher was born in 1964 in Rouyn-Noranda (Québec Canada). He studied the classical guitar at the Montreal Conservatory with Jean Vallières and afterwards completed his studies in Spain (with J. Henriquez, J. L. Rodrigo, V. Mikulka, David Russell, M. Barrueco), in Belgium at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp with (V. van Puijenbroeck) and in Switzerland at the Basel Academy with O. Ghiglia. He is now living in Austria. Those travels would not have been accomplished without the aid of the "Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec" and the Canada Council, which not only offered him many grants, but the Sylva Gelber Award, making Rémi Boucher the first guitarist in 30 years to win this honor! In addition to his many national and international prizes, in less than 18 months, Rémi Boucher has conquered Europe, America and Asia winning at the unanimously

the first prize in five of the most important international music competitions. (Alessandria in Italy, Andrès Segovia in Palma de Mallorca in Spain, Havana in Cuba, Mauro Guiliani in Turin, and Fernando Sor in Roma).

With such success, he was invited by many major symphonic orchestras giving him the opportunity to perform up to ten of the greatest guitar concertos and having the privilege to play under the direction of Leo Brouwer, the famous Cuban composer.

His love and relationship with other cultures, and his interest in all kinds of instruments, helped him to discover new technical possibilities which allow him to enlarge the capabilities of the instrument. A pioneer in that domain, he collaborates closely with composers to create a repertory that serves these new musical possibilities. To study those techniques Rémi Boucher has also created a series of his own compositions and a new technical method. His most recent success was the result of seven years collaboration with his favorite composer and pianist Canadian Jacques Marchand ...
