World-renowned drummer, composer, producer and clinician, Terri Lyne Carrington, has maintained her status in the industry as a person to watch for over 20 years.

Born in Medford, Massachusetts in 1965, Terri developed a reputation as a child prodigy, jamming with jazz veterans Dizzy Gillespie, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Oscar Peterson, Joe Williams, and many more. At 7, she was given her first set of drums, which had belonged to her grandfather, Matt Carrington, who had played with Fats Waller and Chu Berry. After studying privately for three years, she played her first major performance at the Wichita Jazz Festival with Clark Terry. Shortly afterward she received a full scholarship at age 11 to Berklee College of Music where she started playing with such people as Kevin Eubanks, Mike Stern, Greg Osby and others. She also studied under master drum instructor Alan Dawson and made a private recording entitled, TLC and Friends, with Kenny Barron, Buster Williams, George Coleman and her dad, Sonny Carrington, before turning 17 ...

Anthony Liberto, professional drummer.
Led Zeppelin is what got me interested in playing. Bonham’s big drum sound & great parts that fit every song, along with John Paul Jones laying down awesome bass lines is what it’s all about.

I took piano lessons in grade school. My father decided to get me a piano. One day he came home and saw me beating the shit out of the keys. He ran and told my mom: This son of a bitch don’t want to play the piano, he wants to play the drums. So out went the piano and in came the drum kit.

I like to listen to the classic bands like Yes, Aerosmith, Jethro Tull, Rush, Bad Company, the Ramones, and the Sex Pistols, 80’s hair bands, 60’s garage stuff and fusion music.

Some of the modern bands I listen to are: Puddle of Mudd, Hoobastank, Fuel, Disturbed, No Doubt & Incubus, Velvet Revolver, and Linkin Park .

I listen to Howard Stern in the morning. He is just out of his mind. If you listen to him and don’t laugh, you have no sense of humor and take yourself too serious. I do watch some TV shows, but not many. The shows I do watch are: Columbo, Seinfeld, The 3 Stooges, and The Munsters. I also like to watch the Spanish stations which are Telemundo & Univision. I don’t understand a word of what they are saying, but they have the hottest looking babes on their TV shows. You can also see good fist fights on their version of the Jerry Springer & Judge Judy type shows ...

Kenny Aronoff is one of the most in-demand and influential drummers in rock music. He has worked with many of the world's top artists including The Rolling Stones, The Smashing Pumpkins, John Mellencamp, Alanis Morissette, Bob Seger, Melissa Etheridge, Jon Bon Jovi, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, Michelle Branch, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Bonnie Raitt, John Fogerty, Joe Cocker, Mick Jagger, Alice Cooper, Meat Loaf, Avril Lavigne and many others. With a style of playing that combines power and finesse, Kenny was named the #1 Pop/Rock Drummer and the #1 Studio Drummer for five consecutive years by the readers of Modern Drummer Magazine, and in addition has played on over 30 Grammy-nominated recordings.

Growing up in Massachusetts, Kenny joined his first band at age ten. At the time a self-taught drummer, he played in local bands throughout junior high and high school. At sixteen, he decided to focus on classical music, and began to study seriously with members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He went on to study at the University of Massachusetts and at Indiana University, where, among other honors, he was awarded the school's prestigious Performer's Certificate. During the summers, he participated in the Aspen and Tanglewood Music Festivals.

After graduating from Indiana University in 1976, Kenny passed on offers of timpani positions in both the Jerusalem and Quito, Equador symphony orchestras and decided to head for the East Coast where he studied drum set in Boston and New York. During this time he began to concentrate on jazz and fusion music, and in 1977 he returned to Bloomington, Indiana and spent several years in a popular local band, playing throughout the Midwest. In 1980 he joined the John Mellencamp band, recording 10 albums and touring with him over a 17-year period. Kenny's innovative style and solid backbeat became the driving force behind Mellencamp's long run of definitive hit records in the '80's and '90s, a list that includes "American Fool", "Scarecrow", "Uh Huh", "The Lonesome Jubilee", "Whenever We Wanted", "Dance Naked", "Big Daddy", "Human Wheels" and others ...

Become a Better Drummer - Jamie Kuijpers of Australia holds professional drum clinics to inspire and motivate drummers.
I was born 21st of May, 1971 as James Kuijpers (although I was only EVER called James when I was being told off! - Jamie is what it turned into). I started playing music when I was just 5 years of age, beginning with guitar and throughout my teenage years I performed in cover and original bands and created lots of music (or in some cases noise!!). Whilst at high school I was shown how to play a VERY basic 4/4 beat on a kit and suddenly my desire to play percussion grew and a new hobby was born.

While spending a number of years (13 to be exact!) working in the music retail industry and teaching private guitar students, I found that I began to play more and more kit and less guitar. Then, when I left the retail industry to work with Music Link (Australian distributors for Pearl, Zildjian and loads of other brands), I finally made drums my main instrument and continued to perform regularly in the Adelaide music scene. I have spent the past 5 years working with the worlds leading musical instrument manufactures including, Pearl, Zildjian, Latin Percussion, Remo, and Vic Firth. In that time I have had an amazing opportunity to travel the world, meet and learn from some of today’s finest musicians and business people including Karl Lewis of Savage Garden, Terrepia Richmond of The Whitlams, John Otto of Limp Bizkit, Virgil Donati, Steve Smith, Grant Collins, Dom Famularo, Alejandro Vega, Vic Firth, Debbie Zildjian and Remo Belli ...
