As the four boys from Cowpens waited backstage to perform at Spartanburg's Memorial Auditorium one January night in 1957, they could only hope that their dreams of becoming teen-age rock 'n' stars were about to come true. They recently finished an 18-month tour with comedian Chonda Pierce, playing for an average of 2,000 people per night.
