In a theater outside New York City, two great singers came together for a series of special sessions. The result, A Wonderful World, brings the great Tony Bennett and renowned vocalist k.d. lang together for a remarkable collection of duets on songs popularized by Louis Armstrong. Bennett, who has already established himself as a premier interpreter of American popular song on albums such as The Art of Excellence, Perfectly Frank, and Bennett on Holiday adds to his stellar repertoire with A Wonderful World...

Joe Bennett (top), Jimmy Denton (left), Wayne Arthur (right) and Howard "Sparky" Childress were the original Sparkletones.
As the four boys from Cowpens waited backstage to perform at Spartanburg's Memorial Auditorium one January night in 1957, they could only hope that their dreams of becoming teen-age rock 'n' stars were about to come true. Like many other amateur entertainers from all over the Carolinas, the four - Joe Bennett, Jimmy Denton, Wayne Arthur and Howard "Sparky" Childress - had responded to a notice of a talent call, directed by CBS talent scout Bob Cox....

Currently touring in the U.S. and abroad, Mr. James Brown's dynamic showmanship remains timeless. His style has been celebrated throughout generations. As one of the most sampled artists to date, he has more honors attached to his name than any other performer in music history.
Mr. Brown is a three-figure hitmaker with 114 total entries on Billboard's R&B singles charts and 94 that made the Hot 100 singles chart. Seventeen of these hits reached number one, a feat topped only by Stevie Wonder and Louis Jordan. Mr. Brown is still putting that "Good Foot" forward with new recordings and protoges such as Derrick Monk, Laurice Monica and Roosevelt Johnson....

"This Great Master of the Clarinet has to be heard to be believed", so said one music journalist recently. I wonder if Mr & Mrs Bilk, on January 28th 1929, would have thought that their son would be described some 63 plus years later. So many words have been used to describe Mr. Acker Bilk it is hard to find new ones so I will just have to use ones I have used before to tell you about this great musician and genuinely talented guy. I think most people know the back ground of Acker but I will reiterate it for those who have not read it.
Acker was born in a country village in Somerset named Pensford; he was christened Bernard Stanley Bilk but the Christian names were short lived as he was soon nicknamed 'Acker'. This is a Somerset term which means 'mate' or ' friend', and I think a rather apt title for the leader of The Paramount Jazz Band whose wicked sense of humour and friendliness warms him to all....
