the swingcats
the swingcats
Description
If you think that “Swingcats” just means 1930's or 40's swing, then you’ve got it just partly right. This international band (NL / USA / B / D) featuring the saxofonist and clarinettist Frank Roberscheuten has much more in their repertoire than just Swing music. The musical range of this quartet with their fabulous American singer Shaunette Hildabrand extends from classic New Orleans Jazz to Rhythm & Blues to Bebop ...

Musicians: Clark Terry, Tom Baker, Dan Barrett, Colin Dawson, Patrick Artero, Bert Boeren, Irakli.

Arthur Satyan: Born in Yerevan, Armenia, Arthur Satyan began studying piano at the age of 6. Since then his musical path has involved him extensively in both classical music and jazz, working with such diverse musical figures as Larry Coryell and Charles Davis.... Yet anyone hearing him might have little idea that he is a product of the great old Soviet school of classical music ...

He was also involved in two big bands, as a pianist at Armenian National Jazz Big Band led by K.Orbelian and as pianist/arranger at the Armenian National Radio Big Band. At 20 he joined the Komitas Armenian National Higher Conservatory of Music (Composition Department) in Yerevan, where luckily, he was studying with Armenia's best musicians: Avet Terteryan (orchestration), Edward Mirzoyan and his uncle Aram Satyan (composition), Robert Atayan (Armenian music analysis), Edward Pashinyan (harmony), etc ... and graduated in 1998 ...

Life, career, music, performance schedule, and photos about the
Armenian pianist and composer.

The Swingtips:
Everyone who has ever seen the Swingtips perform knows how much fun it is to be a part of the band's live, interactive shows. Audiences of all ages find themselves laughing, singing, dancing, and even performing on stage with the band in the tradition of Vaudeville’s golden age of variety entertainment. This is what the Swingtips are all about - good times, good music and good people.
The Swingtips can be traced back to Kregg Barentine, who in 1992 was responsible in part for the Zony-award winning 1930-40’s swing revue, The All-Night Strut, which played to sold-out crowds each night. Soon after, Barentine was offered a touring spot with The Glenn Miller Orchestra playing saxophone, clarinet and flute in ’93 and ’94 ..
Members of the Swingtips are: Kregg Barentine- lead vocals and saxophone; Jim VanWagoner- piano and vocals; Scott Yandell- trumpet; Gregg Delfiner- drums; and John Willis- bass.

Originally from South Carolina, Michigan, California and Arizona, these swingin' cats have performed over the years with such greats as Ray Charles, Ernie Watts, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, and King Curtis. You definitely wont want to miss a Swingtips performance, as their music will keep you tapping your feet and dancing all night long!
