On October 19th 04, Artemis Records is set to release a very special tribute album to the late Warren Zevon entitled ENJOY EVERY SANDWICH: THE SONGS OF WARREN ZEVON. The album features many of Zevon's best-known songs performed by a stunning array of artists including Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Adam Sandler, Don Henley, The Pixies and many more. Also included are two never-before-released Zevon-penned songs: "Studebaker" performed by Zevon's son, Jordan Zevon with background vocals provided by Wallflowers' Jakob Dylan, and "The Wind" performed by Billy Bob Thornton. Legendary arranger Van Dyke Parks adds string arrangements to the beautiful "Keep Me In Your Heart", performed by Jorge Calderon and Jennifer Warnes.
Warren Zevon passed away on September 7th, 2003.

Né en Allemagne en 1957, Hans Zimmer se consacre très tôt à la musique. Malgré sa volonté de persévérer dans ses études musicales, il ne fait pas le bonheur de son professeur de piano qui abandonne son enseignement au bout de quelques semaines. Qu'à cela ne tienne, si l'éducation sous toutes ses formes n'est pas son fort (la même mésaventure lui arrivera durant sa période scolaire peu en phase avec ses rêves et ambitions), la volonté et l'ardeur que Zimmer met à étudier en autodidacte l'amènent à envisager la musique suivant un oeil ouvert, dénué de tous préjugés. Si sa formation n'est pas académique, elle n'en reste pas moins variée et sous-tendue par une seule et unique chose : composer. Peu importent les commentaires environnants, peu importent les écueils, très vite la musique devient son langage favori. Quittant l'Allemagne pour l'Angleterre durant l'adolescence, Hans Zimmer s'embarque pour des années longues et tumultueuses dans un pays en plein essor musical, résolument tourné vers la modernité industrielle et technologique ...

I remember walking into an old school gym and hearing a barrage of wonderful sound... it was tight, lush, rocking, and loud. As I neared the stage to get a glimpse of the band generating this heat, I was amazed to see only three guys on stage. How could so much music be produced by so few?! I smiled at my girlfriend (now wife) who had brought me there, and I think she knew that I was in love... not with her, but with the band.



So began my introduction to Zebra some sixteen years ago (1982). It was a typical gig for the day - a St. Christopher's Catholic Youth dance in a New Orleans suburb. The place was packed, as usual, mostly teenage guys, too young for area bars, with a smattering of finely dressed females to keep things interesting. The band was roaring through a set of well-rehearsed originals mixed in with crowd-pleasing covers from Zeppelin, Bowie, the Moody Blues, ZZ Top, Montrose, and others....

ZZ Top is an American blues rock band formed in 1969 in Houston, Texas. The group members are Billy Gibbons (guitar and lead vocals), Dusty Hill (bass guitar and vocals), and Frank Beard (drums and percussion).

They hold the distinction of being the only rock band still composed of its original members after more than 37 years, and until September 2006, the same manager/producer, Bill Ham.

They reached the peak of their commercial success in the 1970s and 1980s, scoring many hit songs during that era, but they remain together today and are still touring and releasing albums. ZZ Top was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 15, 2004 ...

Keyboardist Rod Argent, guitarist Paul Atkinson, and drummer Hugh Grundy met at St. Albans school (U.K.) in 1961 and began experimenting musically. They brought on bassist Paul Arnold, who introduced the others to the talented singer Colin Blunstone, a top student and athlete who was headed for a secure job in an insurance firm before a more glamorous destiny beckoned. The nascent group began their live gigging in local venues doing the 50s rock and soul standards common to bands everywhere at the time. They even did Gershwin's Summertime. Paul Arnold, whose interest was waning (he eventually became a physician) was replaced by Chris White on bass. The band began playing shows around St. Albans in 1962, building up a loyal following over the course of the next year....
