Classical Guitarmaker:
Hello and welcome to my web page. I would like to share with you the great passion that I have for the classical guitar. I have the good fortune to be able to dedicated my professional life (and a good part of my private life as well!) to its construction, its history and the wonderful music it produces. I therefore invite you to browse through these few pages, get acquainted with my hand-made guitars and to get a feel for my "vision" and method of construction. All of this is aimed at offering you unique high quality instruments to fulfill your demands.
I truly believe that every classical guitar is a unique instrument with its own personality. I get inspired by the works of great luthiers from Antonio de Torres to the modern masters while staying away from actually copying their instruments. I therefore follow the basic principles of guitarmaking but I design and build my guitars according to my own ideas with regards to the shape of the body (plantilla), the head and neck, the rosette, the strutting system and the various aesthetics aspects.

Bruce Walker Guitars are custom hand-made guitars including: classical, steel, string, archtop and electric versions.
In 1994, I retired and subsequently moved to the beautiful Catskills at East Branch, New York. I custom build no more than 10 instruments per year in my mountainside workshop. My instruments combine Old World craftsmanship with New World technology. As do those of most other builders, my guitars rest on the very large shoulders of the past Masters.
I primarily build classical guitars with an occasional archtop thrown in for the pure enjoyment of it. My classical guitars are built either in the Torres and Hauser tradition or from a design borrowed from the ideas of the Ramirez and Rodriguez styles with some minor refinements of my own. From start to finish there are about 300 hours involved in the building of each instrument.
Each instrument is tailored to the specifications of the individual artist. When possible, before the final finish is applied, I spend time with the customer, tuning the guitar to his or her specifications. This insures that each instrument meets the artists' requirements as closely as possible.
