Vicente Carrillo, guitar maker:
Guitars have been built in Casasimarro, a small town in the province of Cuenca, since the XVIII century. One of these shops back then, in year 1,755, was run by my great-great grandfather, but as far as the Carrillo family is concerned, it was Blas Carrillo Alarcón with whom the saga begins constructing guitars in year 1,836, later was his son Vicente Carrillo Lopez, my father Vicente Carrillo Cantos and after his premature death, my mother Gabriela Casas Fornier took over the shop until in year 1,980 when I personally took the helm of the family business.
I was born on July 31, 1,963 into a guitar-making family therefore have grown among guitars, reason why it was never difficult to learn the craft, further more, I have always pursued learning from other guitar makers specially those that enjoy recognition. At the beginning of 1,984, I was lucky to meet Angel Benito Aguado, a Luthier from Madrid, with whom I have established a very good friendship, have shared ideas and has given me a wealth of advice so I could improve upon my guitars. Later I met Jose Romero that comes from the Ramirez tradition, who also has been a guide and an incredible source of advice for me ...

Charvel® USA EVH Art Series Guitar:
The wait is over! Legendary guitarist, Edward Van Halen, is back in the fold and is once again working with Charvel® to create hand built replicas of his original striped guitar designs. EVH Art Series guitars feature custom-striped basswood bodies, a special-wound humbucking pickup, Original Floyd Rose® tremolo and a compound-radius, maple neck carved from his original specs. Even the volume pot has been replaced with a “Tone” knob just like Eddie's! These guitars are every bit worth the wait and are available in Black and White, Black and Yellow, and Red, White and Black stripes.

Basswood body, bolt-on quartersawn Eastern hard rock maple neck with specially formulated oil finish, Maple fingerboard, 1 5/8" nut width, 22 Jumbo frets, 25 1/2" scale, Custom wound EVH Humbucking pickup, Floyd Rose Original tremolo, Black pickguard, and chrome hardware.

Nombreux sont les bois commercialement disponibles pour la facture de guitare. Ceux acoustiquement sensibles sont appelés "bois de résonance" ; cependant, très peu de ces espèces sont utilisées puisque musicien, vendeurs et acheteurs ont tendance à être quelque peu conservateurs, préférant acquérir des instruments fabriqués dans des bois "reconnus". Ceci est un problème pour le luthier qui désire suivre une ligne de conduite "écologique" respectant l'environnement, en utilisant une source non tarissable : les bois de nos régions.
Il y a quelques centaines d'années, les relations commerciales avec d'autres pays (Brésil, Inde, Etc....) ont institué les "bonnes essences", soit de par leur valeur rare, leur prestige ou, plus souvent, de par leur disponibilité et leur moindre coût. Ceci créa certaines associations-type entre instrument et bois (ex. : la guitare flamenco et le cyprès) ...
