Willis Guitars: Guitars for the Stars.
All of the guitars that I make are hand crafted from the finest of hand picked materials. Each part is fashioned with the love and attention that produces the fine guitar that the discerning player desires.
Both Classical and Steel String guitars are available in left and right handed versions. The steel stringed guitars are additionally available in either 12 or 14 frets to the body.
Each guitar is custom made to the requirements of the player. Scale length, fret board width and cross sectional shape of the neck is tailored to the player's own playing style during the final stages of construction ...
In the construction of acoustic guitars there are no screws or nails or other mechanical fixings to fasten parts together so the joints must fit exactly, hence the requirement for top quality tools and the correct use of adhesives. The type of joint dictates the type of adhesive used. Some joints need to be permanent while others need to be non-permanent, for instance the joint between the bridge and the soundboard, the neck and fret board and in the case of the removable neck to body joint all need to be non permanent to enable repair work to be undertaken.
On these types of joints I use hide glue as it is extremely strong yet under local heat and moisture the joint can be undone without seriously damaging the wood. On all other structural joints I use Extramite as it can be mixed instantly and in any quantity. With it being water-soluble when mixed and applied to the wood it soaks into the wood and sets within the fibers of the wood making an incredibly strong permanent joint ...

I am a native Vermonter and live in the north western part of the state, where the natural beauty of the environment inspires me to produce fine classical and steel string acoustic guitars. I strive to build affordable instruments using quality materials. The wood I use to build instruments has been properly seasoned and is stored in a humidity controlled environment.
